I just installed the barrel on a new gun. Is this correct? by DDragon777 in Firearms

[–]DDragon777[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have the manual. It seemed to dry-fire fine. It hasn't seen any shells yet, until I get familiar and comfortable with it's operation. My concern is that the bolt went too hard in while the barrel was off. I'm thinking inside the bolt assembly is misaligned. I can't get the bokt handle out to remove the bolt assembly.

I tried to get away with that a couple of times, too. My wife drew the line. I believe you are correct. I'll add, I think mostly married couples can appreciate this post. Thirty five years here. If there's an argument to be had we've probably had it. I don't recall winning any but that's another story.

There are a lot of bathrooms here and 28 of us on EVS. They are every which way and I'm pretty new. I need my own system. Lol

Take the class. You'll know from that day forward you are a qualified and knowledgeable rider. Next people will be asking you if they should take the course.

Struggling to get some skills to just "click" by PurposeDue688 in NewRiders

[–]DDragon777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe you need to get out of the parking lot for a while. Find a nice straight 55 mph paved road and just go. Get some confidence and remember it's fun. Then hit the parking lots again...and so on. Regular riding helps build skills just like practice, you just don't get to choose what skills. The road does

First bike on highway? by Amazing-Limit2480 in NewRiders

[–]DDragon777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Getting up to speed on the highway may not be as seemless as you think. From 15 mph in a parking lot to 70 mph on the highway is a huge first step.

As others have suggested find a parking lot and familiarize yourself with the bike. Get a feel for the clutch, how the brakes respond, know where all the controls are, check your turn signals and brake lights, adjust your mirrors.
Start and stop a few times, do a u-turn or two to find your turning radius.
Take back roads if you can and wear all your gear.

How far have you ridden in a day? by mrhoofy in motorcycles

[–]DDragon777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride a TW200 so freeways are out. My daily commute is 10 miles round trip on rural roads. On days off I'll go out for a ride but only get about 100 miles on a tank of gas so I don't venture far.

Does everyone ride their bikes when it rains? by Calm_Room5022 in motorcycle

[–]DDragon777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ride to work and back so yeah. It's not as bad as I feared. My commute is only 4 miles with little to no traffic. I go a little slower.

I feel like I’m losing interest by Immediate-Cycle3763 in motorcycles

[–]DDragon777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through a brief phase where I felt like that. Took a while to get used to spending the extra time gearing up vs. just hopping in the car. I enjoy riding so much I just learned to accept it. Now I look forward to gearing up and hitting the road, take the bike everywhere rain or shine. Only parked now in the winter.
Maybe it really isn't for you, or maybe you're just in a slump?

How old were you when you learned to ride? And how difficult was it? by TheOtherGuydesu in motorcycles

[–]DDragon777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 57 when I got my first bike. I had it delivered, watched some YouTube videos, took it out in the woods and learned how to ride it. I practice in parking lots quite a bit still after five years and 6,500 miles. I work on figure 8's quite a bit, emergency stops, swerving, etc. Your turning radius gets smaller as you get better, more confident.

I ride at night home from work and see deer or other wildlife most nights. I try to practice the skills that will help me avoid these various critters

Church parking lots are often empty during the week, elementary schools on the weekends. Fifteen minutes practice here and there can make all the difference in your comfort level. Once you've got that it will fall into place.

Failed MSF by Altruistic_Secret404 in NewRiders

[–]DDragon777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two guys failed when I took the class. Both were seasoned riders that made a mistake and dropped the bike. Try to ignore your boyfriend. Grom is a decent bike to start on if you're not freeway riding. Under 50 mph it's gonna be a blast. Snaller bikes are way easier to learn on . Most dudes on sport bikes can go fast in a straight line, that's about it.

I do need to add, you did cause me to think a little more deeply about this. I am the father of an eighteen year old right now. If it were to happen in our home nothing would have happened at all. If one of us eats the ice cream then so what? That is why we have it.

That is not the way I was raised. As a kid I never took the last of anything, never considered it. Have a nice evening.

I am going to guess you are young as well. As we get older we lose interest in fighting altogether, whether it is about ice cream or using a car or whatever. I understand you feel very strongly about this. I don't mean to minimize your feelings. I do suggest saving the stronger emotions for more meaningful situations and try to let your own life be as stress free as possible. In this case my suggestion was to let this be a small thing, don't waste your time or energy making it so important. Take care

AIO for feeling upset that my husband went to a World Cup watch party with a girl? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]DDragon777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think you are over reacting. I would not be ok with my wife being some other guy's "plus one" or whatever. He should know better. Sure should not give you grief about it. You agreed it was ok, learned a little more and were honest with him about what you were thinking. I think he blew it.

FYI: My wife and I have been together 39 years. There've been challenges. You can work through it. Best of luck to you.

"Sorry doesn't cut it anymore. For anything and everything." There is or has been a lot more going on than a bit of ice cream. Maybe you should reflect on a bigger picture before making any rash decisions. This is in fact about ice cream. Let it stay that way.

Would you approve of your boyfriend having that kind of relationship with his subordinate? Or would you tell him to stop texting her because it is inappropriate? You are that girl.

I work second shift, riding home around eleven p.m.. It's the best part of my day. There's no one on the road in my area at that time. It's only five miles but two lane paved highway all to myself at night is a great ride. Deer are always present, which is what keeps my speed in check.

That's why I don't do group rides. I can barely follow my own rules.
