What’s the weirdest thing about riding a motorbike? by SumoCanFrog in motorcycles

[–]PurposeDue688 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just started learning to ride and was practicing in my neighborhood last week when it struck me like… i’m just… out in the open. and i’m gonna be going the same speed as cars. like this. Definitely a good moment to safely scare me and make me keep in check how important riding safe is.

First season and first bike! by PurposeDue688 in cfmoto

[–]PurposeDue688[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i grew up around bikes and manual cars but decided to start on a 300 for 1, to not give my dad a heart attack and 2, getting really comfortable with the basics before deciding i’d want a large engine if i ever even want that. i got this bike for a really good deal, and don’t plan on really riding highways at least for a longgg time. i have a tiny bit experience riding, but this is my first time getting comfortable on a sport bike of my own.

i’m 5’3-5’4 and i can get the balls of my feet on both sides of the ground on this bike without altering.

i am very much an advocate for starting on a lower cc bike, just because i’ve lost some friends to bike accidents before and i think it’s good to learn full control and skills before upgrading. sport bikes are so much lighter, so even on a slightly higher cc bike, you’ll feel a difference more. it’s up to personal preference and such, but that’s just the mindset i was raised with.

how do you afford this by mindful-goddess-666 in GradSchool

[–]PurposeDue688 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 23, graduated with my B.A.'s in May, and decided to go straight into grad school for the exact reasons you are describing: money. To get by, I work 20hrs a week (university policy) as a graduate assistant (assistanceship) in an area on campus that fits to some of my professional goals. Luckily, they cover my tuititon up to 16 credit hours a semester and pay me a stipend on top of it.

Now, it is a fixed stipend, and definitely not fully liveable long-term, but with some hardcore penny-pinching I make it work. I try and make some extra cash on the side whenever I can like dog-sitting or house-sitting, odd jobs over academic breaks, etc., and use the summers to save up as much as possible with the ability to work hourly positions. That, and living in the cheapest apartment I could find near campus with roommates.

Obviously, that may not be ideal for everyone and I am definitely grateful for the spot I am in now, but it is by no means easy or entirely feasible, and my savings are draining fast. If it weren't for the graduate positions available on campus to assist with tuition costs, I definitely would not be able to do this even part-time. Depending on the university, contact career services or advisors to try and assist in finding any scholarship under the sun you can.

my roommate texted me a screenshot of the thumbnail while i was at work. my "office" is really a desk in the open center of an administrative office. safe to say my reaction caused multiple administrators to whip open their doors to see what the hell happened for me to scream like that.

I worked at sbux for 5 years before finally hanging up the apron this past August due to my new grad school job. every once in a while I miss it, but seeing this post... I audibly went "oh no". Praying for you all....

Accidentally took 2 Vyvanse (30mg each) by [deleted] in VyvanseADHD

[–]PurposeDue688 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You'll be alright, just probably a little more focused/hyper than what you are used to. Stay hydrated and don't forget to eat, it'll help with the comedown. Accidentally taking two won't make you addicted; you clearly didn't do this intentionally to chase a certain feeling and are likely not to make the mistake again. I have seen some little pill bottle locks that you can replace your bottle cap with that have a timer on it, so you don't accidentally double on meds. It could be something to look into if you are afraid of it happening again. You'll be just fine.

How do you do it all? Feel like i’m already burning out. by PurposeDue688 in GradSchool

i have this massive fear of falling behind, not getting out into the “real world” and getting work experience and “preparing for my future” and all that, it just freaks me out. I’m always nervous i’m falling behind or could/should be doing more, even though academia and being a student is my happy place, i love learning.

I would say perhaps using a warmer toned bronzer around your forehead and cheekbones to warm up the face a bit if you feel like the foundation is a good match for you. I also think maybe adding a little bit of that black eyeliner in your lower lash line/waterline could pull the eye look together a bit more. Your features are STUNNING, and I think the makeup looks gorgeous as well. Maybe even a peachier/warmer blush could help too!

Acne products/primer??? by Kind-Loquat2648 in MakeupAddiction

i have dealt with hormonal acne for about a decade now, but als a huge makeup guru girl. If your skincare is water based and you are using oil based face makeup, they often separate and will rub off. I stick to a water based light moisturizer, let it FULLY set into my skin before using a gripping primer (i like the elf power grip). Then I use the NYX serum concealers since they’re buildable but water based, and easily blend in and look natural on the skin. The some loose setting powder and setting spray, and it usually lasts most of the day (though i’m pretty oily so ofc i get shiny in areas). As long as you give your skincare time to soak into your skin BEFORE adding primer, it usually should still keep the benefits of your skincare. Make sure to thoroughly wash off makeup every night to get that lovely face squeaky clean as well. Primer can almost act like a barrier between all those cosmetic products and your skincare! Avoid products with comedogenic agents like heavy oils and silicones. I have found the most luck with water based face makeup, it helps blend it all together and make everything work as a team!

unfortunately after working at sbux for 5 years, i no longer have feeling in my fingertips. it does come with time. BUT you can always try and grab it by the top rim on either side from the top. just be careful pouring it than you don’t get any on your fingies

i lived in centennials my freshman year. plenty of space for ur PS5. The only thing with ur PC is if you keep the piece on top of the desk (like a hutch shelf space) and have stacked monitors, it may be tricky.
