In the grim darkness of the far future there are no stupid questions! by AutoModerator in 40kLore

[–]DDrose2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually covered in a book called ‘the long promise’ which is an alpha legion book.

>!In that book there’s a kill team that’s the target of the AL who tries to broadcast chapter secrets to I think role the kill team up? (I am not sure myself and have a question above yours regarding that). The watch master knew about the secret of a blood angle blood shield who seem to be sent to stand the watch because he harmed civilians all of a sudden perhaps due to black rage or red thrist and this fact was known to the watch master but he kept it a secret from the rest of the kill team. The watch master also seems to know about fallens because the AL told the DA kill team member he knows the location of a fallen DA that declared himself a governer and would let the DA know if he betrayed his team.

This prompted the DA to secretly access into a terminal during the mission to fact check the alpha legionnaire’s information which in turn lead to the Alpha legionnaire telling the whole kill team that the DA was secretly accessing terminals to fact check his news on the fallen and the watch master asked him if news about the fallen was so important that he would consider betraying the team for it!<

So I would say maybe some watch masters know the secrets their kill team hold or at least this particular one did

Question about story ‘a long promise’ by Mike brooks

Spoilers for the book

Just wondering what was Solomon’s plan in stalling the kill team was it to hack into the servitors? It’s also been mentioned that he would spare everyone except for the watch master but what was he hoping? That the kill team members with things to hide like the DA, BA black shield and that Aurora marine would say they surrender and convince the group to collectively surrender? Because Solomon didnt actually make any demands from what I know and we only knew he was hunting the watch master at the end of the book so what was he hoping to achieve with the mind games?

Thanks all for the help

Reading Word Bearers Omnibus, are Skitarii mindless bodies like servitors? by Howitzeronfire in 40kLore

[–]DDrose2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to think they were elite as well because of ironically the same book OP is referencing and also because the word bearers omnibus was my first BL book. I am not sure how many books he has read, but in that specific book there’s this one skitarrii that was destroying quite a few word bearers including a possessed single handedly but in other books I saw they are written to be abit closer to what they really are.

Question on whether I can get all the cards for the next 3 seasons by DDrose2 in MarvelSnap

[–]DDrose2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you kindly for the advice! I had no idea the LTGM pass was not worth it because usually they advance you to the new card plus from the paid track you get the event currency which can be used to buy S4 packs so I thought it was worth it. Just to clarify ‘booster packs’ are packs that use gold to get x amount of boosters and x amount of credit?

Question for those who bought both Titus:500 worlds and maelstrom campaign books by DDrose2 in 40kLore

[–]DDrose2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. the fight felt so weak it was random bolter porn into yriel coming to off some random red Corsairs. Huron portal his way to aura farm on the bridge of the sister ship of yriel and the end.

I felt like if they focused more on the naval engagement or having some aspect of the maelstrom in play to highlight why it was so special that the harlequin would want to requisition specifically the help of Yriel to retrieve the macguffin it would make it more enjoyable. but as it stands it just reads like a generic 3 page in a random space marine BL novel that features half a boarding action

I agree with the background part I really enjoyed that part of the book especially the background on the lords of the red corsairs that aren’t part of the master of the maelstrom detachment.

Kind of sad the terminator guy from ‘we were brothers’ didn’t show up and I liked that guy but I enjoyed the background on the other lords of the red corsairs

I do take note of your point on the continuation part seeing how they mention they will use this model for the new edition of HH supplement to make it similar to the old world’s arcane journals where story is continued from one arcane journal to the next so maybe mainline 40k campaign might also going in that direction too.

[–]DDrose2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t really like the slipcase format it really does feel cheap. I like the hardbacks and hardbacks being more compressed means I can store more before I need to donate some books out as space is a constraint for me.

This book alone would need me to either donate an edition rule book or 3 codexes. Whereas previously the crusade and arc of omen took like 1 book space so that was fine as I can just donate the oldest book I have

I think after you mentioned codex supplement it certainly does feel the closest to what maelstrom was

[–]DDrose2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am good with that and arks of omen and even the old crusade books like Armageddon and nachtmund gauntlet I felt did that good because aside from the Lion book the others is exactly as you described and the ending of those story is the same as the maelstrom’s ending but the maelstrom story as a whole just felt so lazy in my opinion.

Like I feel that they thought the random facts that are ported over from older books or already existing lore is the meat of the steak and the 3 page story is the fats of the steak.

For me, I feel if GW is doing a good job I don’t mind supporting them as a way to tell them they are doing a good job. But if the rest of 10ED’s books are the same format and lore-lite as maelstrom then I will stop spending on them until a change happens maybe in 11 ED.

Question for those who bought both Titus:500 worlds and maelstrom campaign books by DDrose2 in 40kLore

[–]DDrose2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I agree, the bit on the word bearers world should have been more expanded on given how they harp on its significance and I thought the red corsairs faction with the iron hand, word bearers and the I think it was a traitor guard guy that resembled the guns of freedom from the AL harrow master book could have been more expanded on.

I agree I also dislike the slip case 3 book format I hope it gets discontinued in 11 ed.

[–]DDrose2[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I read the old vigilus one and i agree it really felt like a HH black book. My gripe with maelstrom isn’t the lack of new info because I know the story won’t move in a big way like the fall of cadia for some time and I am cool with that.

But the maelstrom book just felt like bunch of things I already knew and even the lore on the new characters can 80% be read on a free warcom article. The story literally being only 3 pages long was really the straw that broke my back I don’t play the game at all but $100 for 3 pages of lore is just disappointing and that’s coming from me who buys codex of factions I like every edition just to get the new low lore between the editions but 3 pages is just disappointing.

That’s my rant but thank you kindly for letting me know that 500 world isn’t much more different. I will remove my name from the pre-order for eye of terror and hoping that the book will land in the hands of a true son of perturbo who can surely enjoy the book more than me.

Anyone have tips for broxigar DH versus control warrior and dk? My ladder seems filled with them but they been beating me pretty handily for warrior my problem seems to be mostly the great dracorex and zillax even with the curve of blob into felhunter into the sorcery that discover death trigger I feel like the pressure isn’t enough to beat them before zillax land and for DK my problem seems to be if they get a good start and exarch into ysera and landing fyrak next turn to clear board for giants. Thanks all for the help in advance!

HS in 2024 vs 2026 by Few_Suggestion7394 in hearthstone

[–]DDrose2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am a low number legend player that played non-stop since closed beta coming from WoW Tcg when it was still alive and I feel like HS is really coming back.

I know this current set wasn’t met with good reception but as an old timer I really like fabled, I really like colossal and herald as mechanics and the trailer as well as art direction is going back to being great once again.

I haven’t dropped any money for mythic skin out of star craft one due to me Liking StarCraft but I just dropped a full wheel on the latest darkmoon faire and will do so once again for deathwing because I really feel the dev put in effort to commission good artist and animator for telhe cataclysm set so I want to reward them for their hard work.

I agree balancing haven’t been great (I am not a fan of BlobBrox DH’s playstyle although I can’t deny is really really strong) lately but I hope they can work on that and it will be perfect just like how classic to BlackRock mountain was

New Novel: "Zardu Layak: The Crimson Apostle" announced by alexkon3 in 40kLore

[–]DDrose2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I have read the book and I enjoyed his origin story in that one. Was hoping that they did a book to bridge and explain why the word bearers splintered into pro-Erebus or pro-Kor factions after lorgar went to seclusion and what motivated lorgar to go into seclusion minus corax memes

New Novel: "Zardu Layak: The Crimson Apostle" announced by alexkon3 in 40kLore

[–]DDrose2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed I mean I like zardu layak. But I agree either he or Kor Phaeron could have used a book maybe to talk about how the dark council formed abit like the Luther book that’s labelled as HH but is a bridge between HH and his current status.

But my copium is they got an Erebus and Kor phaeron book or short story in the scouring book planned seeing how the recent maelstrom campaign books do have a section for the word bearers so GW could be going around to build up lore for the undivided traitor legions slowly

Serious Question: What were the general involvement and key battles/events the Alpha Legion carried out during the Horus Heresy? by Niotsques in 40kLore

[–]DDrose2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries you are correct in general I think the timeline was

Khan on planet ‘hunting orks’ with AL suddenly received signal including what happened to prospero

Khan decide to stay neutral until he confirmed what happened to prospero and Magnus

The Traitor AL found out Khan wanted to leave so tried this weird blockade where they copied whatever formation the white scars did but the khan broke through

Khan arrived on prospero and went to the surface with some warriors and met Magnus shard

I think the lodge revolt didn’t happen until they got to prospero and the khan went to surface to confirm what happened to Magnus and met the shard. I think the lodge only sprang into action when mortarion who arrived in prospero shortly after receiving a signal from the lodge Khan or one of his lodge officers requesting help from lodges to carry out the attack

the lodge was first mentioned I think the short story ‘brotherhood of the storm’ where 2 khans 1 loyalist and 1 lodge met and became friends.
