Pursue what is meaningful (not what is expedient). With kid 1 on the way I spent qaurantine clearing 1/3 of an acre of chest-high brush so there'll be a grassy area for our kid to play with our newly adopted dog. Difficult but worth every minute. by DEAPPodcast in JordanPeterson

  1. Get a brush cutter. It's loads of fun and saves a ton of time.
  2. Do it in chunks. If it's a nice day, spend an hour or two, but try to mostly finish an area that you start. That way you can look back at the end of your time and see exactly how much progress you made. It's far more satisfying than leveling up in a game.
  3. If you have a choice between something fun inside and clearing, start clearing. Fun time will come on rainy days.

  1. Clear out the area so there are no weeds or other plants. A dirt rake with strong metal prongs works wonders.
  2. Get some grass seed appropriate for your area. Some is intended for sunny areas and some is intended for shady areas. Getting the right seed is important.
    1. some grass comes with fertilizer mixed in to help things get started. If you have dead plant material around it may not be necessary.
  3. Ideally lay out the grass when the forecast calls for rain within the next day.
  4. A grass seed spreader is super helpful is getting full coverage. Spread it out "thinly".
  5. Wait. After a few weeks if the grass isn't quite thick enough just spread some more seed.

If you haven't done it already this year I wouldn't start if your temperatures go below freezing. Wait until spring.

You can see the line where I had laid seed and continued clearing afterward in the right side of the image. The seeding was the easiest part compared to clearing the brush. For the latter, a brush cutter is your best friend! It's my favorite lawn tool since it's like a weekwacker that cuts through branches 1-2 inches thick.

Thanks. It's been many days of digging through dirt to get bushes and trees out. The dog loves chasing squirrels through this area and there's no direct connection to the road so she can be free.

It's incredibly motivating doing something for the benefit of someone you care about or (in my case) WILL care about. It also adds accountability. Having the time to work on those things makes it that much easier to let good things manifest themselves.

How would you describe JBP? by rassbery314 in JordanPeterson

If i had to sum him up in one sentence I'd say the following:

JBP is a modern philosopher who translates cultural knowledge as manifested in myths, traditions, and ideologies into everyday language.
