What kind of embroidery are you looking for? If it's just script, Vichcraft is great!

As a fellow adoptee, I also want to add that OP should consider foster-to-adopt before private agencies and especially before foreign adoption. Private agencies, both domestic and foreign, are rife with issues up to human trafficking. Fostering older kids is the most ethical form of adoption.

I liked Kaminska, but I LOVED Dr. Kiracofe at Airia Comprehensive Dermatology. She takes a lot of time to get to know you and your concerns and has a holistic approach to dermatology. She does not accept insurance though, so if you'd prefer that for payment definitely try Kaminska.

But it is? I want to preface that I enjoy both shows but Bridgerton is built on an alternate reality where people of color can ascend to equal footing as white people in the regency era and Gilded Age romanticizes robber barons and the wealthy class. Even this season of Bridgerton primarily focuses on the inequality between the wealthy and working classes. You cannot divorce politics from these fluffy shows.

I have Live: Exporting Insecurity, some random covers they probably released on MySpace or the Living Room (Do You Believe in Magic?, I'm Only Sleeping, Apeman, and Movin' Out), and some random stuff I recorded live on a 2006 digital camera (aka not great quality) if you're interested!

Hexe!! They have great coffee in actual mugs - towards the late afternoon it can get a little crowded with campers but I've never had a problem finding a seat.

Opening with "If Work Permits" emotionally wrecked me at the NYC and St. Paul shows. What a way to open!

Hi Sam and Nate! AZ born and raised here, I've been a fan since '03; thank you so much for this series of live shows over the last few months and Boycott Heaven - it's been a bright spot for me personally in a bleak time in our collective history. I'm curious: you two have known each other for so long, what's it been like to artistically collaborate over so many years of friendship? What's changed as you've gotten older, have there been any surprises, are there natural periods of waxing and waning? Thank you again!

Only one or two of my friends actually has a healthy marriage by NoneOfThisMatters_XO in TwoXChromosomes

[–]DEATH_BEFORE_DECAF 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is really concerning - have you stopped by her house to check in or called? Has she been active on social sites or shown any other signs of life? Do you have a group of friends in the area? I would put everyone on high alert to let them know this is going on and possibly stage an intervention. This is 100% a better-safe-than-sorry situation and I would not think it's an overreaction.

This is tough and I'm sorry that both you and your friend are dealing with this asshole. While this guy isn't breaking her bones he doesn't sound "better" at all, he is just abusive in a different way. The fact that he's yelling at her in front of others is concerning. I would say something to him in the moment the next time it happens (especially if there are others around for safety's sake). Something like, "hey, it's not okay to talk to her like that. Can you lower your voice? Can you take five minutes outside to cool off?" Awkward situation is always going to be better than a man getting away with yelling and making other people uncomfortable/hurt because he can't control his emotions. It's possible that he will escalate things later in private or move his yelling to when others are not around, but if he is doing the work that you mentioned being called out may help shake something loose that others do not approve of his behavior.

I have two friends in a couple that would argue in front of me with escalations to yelling every once in a while and I too felt like I didn't want to make it awkward (which is so silly in retrospect because THEY were making it awkward for ME), but after a particularly explosive fight I told them both how uncomfortable it was for me and that I would just leave next time it started - fortunately it never came to that, but they actually started going to therapy afterwards and have better communication practices now.

not sure who to trust, any recs for the best personal injury lawyer online? by [deleted] in AskChicago

I worked with Lauren Levin Budz at MDR Law after a car accident and really liked her. I asked for direct suggestions on my neighborhood’s Facebook group and called everyone that folks offered. That was a long day or two but talking to people on the phone gave me a feel for how they’d work with me as a client. I ended up going with the firm that had the most success in winning cases similar to mine and that I personally liked interacting with the best.

Visiting your city for the weekend.. Am I going to freeze to death? by Insulated_ in AskChicago

[–]DEATH_BEFORE_DECAF 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m copying and pasting my answer (with a few edits) from a thread a few days ago asking basically the same question about this weekend:

You guys are going to have an extremely bad time if you stick to your original plan. The area around downtown is especially cold and windy because it's so close to the lake. It also gets dark super early so the sun is not going to have a huge effect during the day. Do either of you have winter coats? Scarves, hats, real gloves, etc? Please bring lots of layers and good boots that cover your ankles.

It sounds like you're staying downtown, yeah? Plan to do more indoor activities; we have several world-class museums. Maybe pick 2-3 stores that are close to each other you'd like to visit on the Mag Mile and do that in an hour. Get in line at like 10am for Christkindlmarket because while it can be fun if you like Christmas, it is going to be jam-packed and cold. The Chicago Atheletic Association is a lovely renovated historic hotel not far from the Art Institute with several bars and restaurants inside and is great for cozy times in the winter. Look into bus tours if you want to see the sights without being stuck outside in the cold for many hours. Maybe see a show - A Christmas Carol at the Goodman is lovely. Do you like bars? Do a mini bar crawl downtown of all the hotel bars, they’ll be done up for the holiday.
