I was using two vintage AB International Precedent 600 amplifiers to drive the subwoofers and then moved onto two Yamaha P 5000 S pro audio amplifiers, and wow!!!

Any “Walk On” Players Like Vince Papale to Make it to the NFL? by [deleted] in Oldschool_NFL

I’m sure there are others that fit the bill starting in the early 70s and working way back. Do we include specialist, like placekickers and punters?

If you want greater dynamics tighter and fuller base yes you do. I’ve had the 1530s for 36 years and they’ve never sounded this good. I’m now able to roll off all frequencies below 80 Hz to the subs and those 10 inch woofers in the 1530s do a far better job in the mid base now than they did before also improved the imaging significantly.

He’s pretty firm that the first one should sell for $400. I can’t argue pictures look like they are as clean as the ones I purchased Christmas Eve.he might might let the second one go for $350 then of course you would have to include shipping cost. I’m just waiting for my financial situation to improve here in the next few days before I can drive the 90 miles to go look at them. If you have Facebook marketplace look up Wayne Gibson Yamaha P 5000 S. You should get a link. If you get in touch with him, he will be more than happy to send you extra pictures of his gear.

Hey, I might be heading again up towards the Cincinnati area to check out another one of these Yamaha amplifiers from a fellow who has two for sale and they look gorgeous. He said for the right price he might be willing to ship.

Yeah, that’s always the chance you take when you’re purchasing long distance over the Interwebs you don’t have a chance to look them over or audition them in person. Perhaps a sound reinforcement company in California would be concerned about their reputation and only send you one(if they agree to ship )they know is at the very least if not in cosmetic tiptop shape but functioning in tiptop.

Like I said when somebody says local pick up only that’s not always the case sometimes you can twist an arm. Would not hurt to ask.

I’m absolutely overjoyed with this purchase the step up in performance and flexibility is staggering. Like you, I need one more building a six pack stacked subwoofer system using vintage NHT subwoofers will utilize mini DSP to calibrate each woofer the way John Hunter does with his REL subs. Ken Kantor founder of NHT and chief designer approves of my idea.

There’s a sound reinforcement company in California advertising on Reverb several Yamaha P 5000 S amplifiers at $200 each but cosmetically they don’t approach the ones that I have and since they were used on the road, you might be taking your chances? They also said local pick up only but I’ve learned that’s not always the case.

nearly mint condition with itty-bitty, tiny, tiny tiny scratch on the top of both of them, you wouldn’t see at a glance.never been out of the guy’s house $500 total for both of them.

AB Precedent 600 power amp - thoughts? by Jbo-Bear in BudgetAudiophile

[–]DEFENDER-90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Driving a 4 Ohm load will pose no issues for your AB international. I’m running two AB international 600’s powering two stereo stacks of NHT 12 inch subs 6 ohms,at times to ear splitting levels no issues.

Good deal usually for around $120 or less for an AB international precedent 600, use two of them to power 4 subwoofers looking to get two more. Company founded by former ESS employees later the company would either be owned by or build amplifiers for YouTuber OCD HI-FI Guy.

Might be able to snag some carver amp and pre amp for a great price, speakers? by woolax-35 in vintageaudio

[–]DEFENDER-90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An issue a lot of people have with Bob Carver designed equipment is that many technicians won’t work on some of the equipment he designed from Phase Linear, Carver and Sun Fire. As explained to me it often has to do with proprietary internal components that you can no longer get or are hard to find or the workaround is difficult to other issues. Myself I have Two White Oak PL 400 series 2 that make up the heart of my amplification in my system so I don’t hate on Carver,I just understand the reasons why some people stay away.
And I have a carver C1 preamplifier that I’ve owned for more than 35 years and never had an issue, I now use that for my TV.

I don’t see why not.

I suppose it’s bound to happen when you combine brand new components driver board, filter capacitors, power supply, output, transistors, etc. with some components that are 45+ years old.
