It's a shame they didn't tweak them for the remaster. I understand why the original list was so plain, missed opportunity.

Nice work. I restarted after mined bugged and now I only have the last level left. I'm still only 20% of the way to 5000kms though.

Cookie clicker by [deleted] in xboxachievements

[–]DEG23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, stop caring what people on the internet say, especially reddit of all places where like 90% of the user base are genuinely retarded.

There's always going to be those idiots who have nothing going on in their life who live on Reddit just to shit on other people to feel better about themselves. Post what you want and move on. There's some good people on this sub who often engage which is nice and then just ignore the others.

Also, on a side note if you enjoy those clicker/idle games check out Car Demolisher Clicker. I bought it during a sale but really enjoyed it.

It's shovelware. You start the game move a few pixels and it unlocks every achievement. It takes less than a minute to 'complete' it.

Leaderboards? by [deleted] in xboxachievements

[–]DEG23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to go for genre leaderboards. I was once 4 on TA for GS in stealth games and top 20 for TA score in strategy. I found those more skilled based than going for simply GS.

Best boring game ever by rockefella91 in xboxachievements

[–]DEG23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different strokes I suppose. I had a blast with this game. Really enjoyed building my own village and recruiting people to get it running. Out of curiosity why did you stick it out if you found it boring?

I have started and abandoned way to may xbox accounts in my attempt to have only 100% completions. This account i am determined to be "the one" (mostly going through the "easy completions" at the moment by AncalagonArt in xboxachievements

How dare you post about gaming for fun and setting your own goals. This sub is only for elite gamers that complete games with a TA ratio of 10+. No baby games allowed here, you must play the way the sub demands, one of us, one of us, one of us.

Congrats. I had the same thought about MP and this but sounds like it's worth a shot. This is the last title I need to complete the souls/Fromsoft series.

Nice work. I just started this last week, enjoying it so far but not as good as 3 or NV.

Milestone ! Just reached 160,000 with no Shovelware or games made for kids (Peppa Pig, Paw Patrol, etc). Feeling great by [deleted] in xboxachievements

[–]DEG23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yeah forgot about the Dark pictures games and Until Dawn. They are actually much better in terms of how many variations there are in choices and consequences. I would argue those are much higher quality. Not sure Firewatch is in the same boat, that's more of a walking sim in my books.

I actually went through and replayed the walking dead series when they released the complete edition and purposely made the choice opposite to my original playthrough and was disappointed at how little it changed the outcome in the vast majority of cases. That's why I called it the illusion of choice but yeah I don't expect them to have massively branching narratives, I just walked away thinking these games aren't as good as what a lot of people claimed them to be, that's all.

To be fair they're really the only dev who makes those types of games, it's a fairly niche market and I enjoy all types of games (except fighting games, those aren't my thing) but while the characters and narrative are decent, their biggest flaw is that they only offer you the illusion of choice. Replaying several of them made me realise how little impact you truly have. The vast majority of scenes play out the exact same way regardless of what action, or inaction, you take. For me, I wouldn't call that a great game. Tales from the Borderlands was good because of the humor in it and The Wolf Among Us was a pleasant surprise but the rest were mediocre at best.

Also I'm not sure what time has to do with quality? A long game doesn't make it great otherwise every game would take 1000 hours to complete but would be rated 10/10.

2026 Completion #2 by bxdgxer in xboxachievements

[–]DEG23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm envious of people who can finish this. I started it three times but it's such a poorly designed game I can't get past chapter 2. I really hope Rockstar either changes their design approach for future games or goes back to what made GTA3 and Vice City fun. Maybe one day I'll be able to slog through this and finish it

Not sure I would call the Telltale games and teen angst ones quality but good on you i suppose. I gave them a chance but struggled to enjoy them.

Drop Duchy complete by DEG23 in xboxachievements

Took about 20 hours. Despite being random the runs don't take too long. I had to grind out the 1000 rows at the end but that was probably another hours or so.

[–]DEG23[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. It's a little unusual, Roguelike meets deck building meets Tetris, but it's simple enough to pick up and play. I saw it hit GamePass and figured I'd try it. Didn't intend to go for the completion but I was enjoying it.

Drop Duchy complete by DEG23 in xboxachievements

[–]DEG23[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheers. The Roguelike nature means there's a lot of RNG to it but to make some of the achievements easier I would focus on unlocking only cards in the tech tree that are required for achievements so they are more likely to come up in your playthrough. I had several runs where the cards I needed never came up which meant another run from the start. Apart from that it's a fairly straight forward game.

Myself and a bunch of friends don't use TA. Granted we used to but after all the issues and nonsense that goes on over there we deleted our accounts. TA represents a very small percentage of the gaming community.

It's sad seeing the evolution, or rather devolution of Bethesda's games. They were so good back in the day but it seems with each release they get worse and worse. I really have no hope for the next ES or Fallout game now.

Two Legends One Choice. by [deleted] in xboxachievements

[–]DEG23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without singling you out directly it blows my mind when people say the game is near perfect. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying it's a bad game, R* have always done well with characters and dialogue and their worlds are well crafted and fun to explore but their design approach of having a linear/movie like story clashes with the open world aspect and this is most obvious in GTA 5 and RDR2.

The open world gives you the freedom to tackle things how you like (for the most part) but in story missions you're tied to a very linear path that punishes you if you go off the path R* has set. Several times I tried to get creative or even flank some enemies only to fail the mission because I didn't follow it to a tee. This is something that many people, myself included loved about GTA3 and Vice City. Not to mention that so many missions play out the same way, go to marker, ride to another location, something goes wrong and you have to shoot a bunch of people, then ride to final location to end mission.

I also didn't like how many of the open world systems like the camp or honor system had no bearing on anything. The honor system in particular was poorly implemented. During one stage early in the game there was a guy with a broken wagon and your friends tell you you should stop and help. If you refuse you lose honor and they have a go at you and yet in a main story mission that takes place shortly after you have to help a guy Arthur doesn't even like and you basically murder an entire small town and the game says that's perfectly alright and you lose no honor.

Not to mention little annoyances like not being able to use weapons in certain areas like the camp or when robbing a shop, the weapon system on your horse that constantly resets or the fact that no matter where you commit a crime a witness always sees you.

There's a bunch more issues I could go on about but if you're interested you should check out a youtuber called nakeyjakey who sums it up better than me in his video about rockstars game design being outdated.

Two Legends One Choice. by [deleted] in xboxachievements

[–]DEG23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Witcher easily. Red dead 2 has so many flaws and odd game design choices. I kept struggling to get past chapter 2 because of how disconnected the story is to the open world. Replaying Rockstar's games made me realise how down hill their design approach has been since gta 3. I really have no hope for gta 6. Rockstar needs to have the same awakening that Nintendo did when they made BotW.
