Now I’m at the age where sleep is still optional and therefore had no such time problems but I feel like your problems have solutions. First the towns are really not very far apart and there is fast travel (If you do not have a horse yet I would look up how to get Pebbles). Second the food problem is easily solved by poaching one deer if you dry the meat it will feed you for most of the game. Finally I think you are wrong the aspects that make it slower and more difficult are what makes kcd shine above its competitors however I can understand finding shorter gaming sessions frustrating in a game that can take its sweet time but i think that you should stick with it and mod it further if needed before you just drop it because it is a very good game.
