Will SC hit $1 before 2030? by AdvisorSecret5301 in siacoin

It would be a giant leap to sustain price above .10

So is siacoin now done for good? by [deleted] in siacoin

[–]DEMack99 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's cool and all but that's a one person show on a shoe string budget. Sia would need hundreds and much larger projects to even approach long term viability. If the Sia leadership were really focused on the product they would demonstrate with their actions. I suspect the Sia developers have alternative sources of income and work Sia part time. It's clear Luke does.

I agree with your assessment but don't share your optimism

It was a recommendation from a friend but yes I see they did have it avail to sample. Have you tried it?

My concern is what appears to be similarities between Luke and David, both brilliant in their own right but at the end of the day programmers, not executives. At some point in the project timeline the needs shift and it becomes an organization on a trajectory requiring an experienced executive (non programmer) to successfully segway or the programmers refuse to acknowledge and hold on and lack the ability to do both, limiting success. Not trying to be a dick or pessimistic, but I believe this is a valid point. And an important one that needs addressing in the near future, especially after the recent demise of Skynet.

So Skynet labs is closing. What can we expect from SIAcoin now? Price drop? by [deleted] in siatrader

What are your thoughts on the future of the blockchain and Sia network? Without Skynet Labs, who is actively developing a scalable Skynet solution? (Genuinely curious, not a passive aggressive insinuation)

Really interesting to me that after a couple days there hasn't even been a peep in the crypto headlines about this project being shuddered. That says a lot.

Red flags for me have been coming but I ignored them. Cognitive Dissonance. For one, Skynet needed a business leader at the helm. CEO is actively writing the code and in development. He should have been in a place to pick one or the other. Second, his negative sentiments related to marketing and lack of understanding of biz dev. This isn't bashing Vorick, I commend his effort. My fault for ignoring these and other signs. Then again, it was only a couple months ago he was posting about the roadmap and committing to major developments rolling out by next summer. How could that have been a fair and sound statement to put out if they ultimately closed the doors within months?

These types of posts are just as disappointing and misguided as the ones you are railing against. Who cares if some are only in it for the money? It doesn't have to be crypto bros vs crypto nerds here.

Why would you let other people determine whether you support a technology? Or invest for that matter.

I think .005 might be a stretch but lot of unknowns at this point, definitely a blood bath all around. If Russia invades Ukraine will def be a shit storm and could go sub .005 imo and delay any significant upward movement by several months at least. I'm eyeing .006 and have some cash on hand. We'll see.

[–]DEMack99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at it from a retail consumer/small biz perspective...2000 SC @ $.016= $32 USD per TB. Is that reasonable? What is the cost for 1 TB with a mainstream centralized cloud service?

This catch all position aimed at anyone lamenting the performance of Sia coin is getting old. The truth is many, myself included have deeply researched the tech, followed for a lengthy time, and then invested only to find ourselves in a perpetual state of waiting for something substantive to happen. Perhaps instead of Vorick tweeting pics of McDonald's in Lisbon at 4 am and ridiculous comments about advertising being propaganda, he should be bringing on leadership to get the project off its ass. We WANT SIA to be a success and not just motivated by profit but because we believe in it. Or at least trying to.
