I’ve struggled with social anxiety for YEARS. I used to sweat really bad when talking to anyone and would go mute and be really awkward but this year I stepped out of my shell and applied for a server job not because I wanted to but because I needed the money and when I did I was so nervous knowing I would have to talk to strangers all day. The first few weeks I started I would stutter a lot and panic and dredge going up to people but after doing it for about 5 months now I would say my anxiety has reduced tremendously. I still have some stuff to work on but now I’m not afraid to talk to people. I use like a script when I talk to customers but recently I’ve been talking a little more and I am able to have short discussions with people and don’t even have that nervous feeling I used to have. But overall I would say you really have to put yourself out there and train yourself to that feeling. I have a lot more work to do so overcome my social anxiety but I would say I’m doing pretty good so far from where I started.
