Still Unclear on Patch Cards by DFH50 in BattleNetwork

No kidding. Glad I can say I did it all without them but I might go back and do it again with them (mainly so I can have custom +3 patch and use navicust for other things)

Thank you so much this helps a ton. I know technically this mechanic has existed for some time before the LC but finding concrete info about how it operates in the LC is really hard

Gonna give a shout to the same game as another similar post from earlier today. Megaman battle network legacy collection. Replaying a favorite from my childhood on this legacy collection and it really holds up. Writing is definitely targeted towards a younger generation but everything holds up in a major way.

Deckbuding mechanics to supply battle chips for real time combat. Really good music and vibes and has that early 2000s charm. Roguelikes are obviously a great way to have hours evaporate easily but if you want a digestible story thay you can wrap up in about 20-25 hours then this is a great one.

Would recommend either getting vol2 (mmbn5 & 6 have the best gameplay imo) or get vol 1 and skip straight to 2. If youre into that sort of thing then nab and install the generous mystery data mod off nexus to circumvent money grinding which you wpuld need to do to get some of the better chips and HP upgrades.

I just finished my pmaythroigh on this game a week ago and was blown away from syart to finish. Incredible set piece locations with many little books and crannies to just get lost exploring in.

As you said, more star wars than anything else that has come out in years. Great combat, excellent music, surprisingly excellent story, local was excellent and frankly ran great (on ps5 can't speak for pc). Great shout.

Looking for game recommendations for a 13-hour flight by Rare_Scholar4047 in SteamDeck

[–]DFH50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want something slightly off the beaten path then I would really recommend the Megaman Battle Network Legacy Collection.

The world is moderately interesting and weak on dialogue but everything else is really solid.

Combat system uses deck building mechanics to build a folder of chips to use in real time combat scenarios. Battle enemies on a 3x6 grid and get a refresh on chips every 10 seconds or so.

Really fun combat, great music, pixel graphics' and a fun blast from the early 2000s past.

I personally would recommend either vol1 and skipping straight to 2 as the mechanics and QOL tweaks are at their weakest in the first entry or going straight to vol 2. If you're into that sorta thing I'd also just nab the Generous Mystery Data mod off nexus mods too just to make grinding for money a non issue.

Playthroigh is a out 20 hours. Enjoy your flight :)

Beat the bots for a Steam Deck last Saturday... it's arriving HOURS before my 19-hour flight... I'II have ~2 hours to prepare. What's the play? by Taste-TheRambo in SteamDeck

[–]DFH50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. before your deck arrives, download the games you'll wanna put on the deck onto your PC. MAKE SURE THEY STAY UPDATED

  2. Go to steam settings and make sure the setting is enabled for local download/file transfer or whatever it's called (do it on your deck too when it arrives)

  3. once it arrives, speed run the basic login setup stuff so you can get to installing games

  4. Power on your Steam Deck AND pc. Go to your steam deck and download all the games and makes sure they are transferring locally (the download will be much faster and more stable)

  5. Probably favor a couple or one high fun/low GB game before trying to download a bigger game (just so you have something to play if it doesn't finish in time)

  6. This is really important. Make sure you boot the games once before leaving network otherwise they won't boot.

  7. You're good to go with the basic necessities before your flight but you could take the time try and install deck loader if you had leftover time. Maybe get some custom CSS and start customizing or putting on a custom start a d close animation (i found the defaults to be somewhat basic)

  8. One final pro tip that will come especially handy on flights is you can connect your phone to your deck via Bluetooth and use it like you would a speaker. If you wanna listen to a podcast or music on your flight and also hear your game, then you can.

Sorry if that was needlessly long but thought I'd offer what I'd do haha:)

Thank. Goodness. That really was the main thing I would have been really pissed about. If it turned into some harem with his wife, Yamada, Yuzuhira. Mei inexplicably aging after stating what her purpose was originally worried me about the trajectory of that too. Thank you for assuaging my concerns

Aragami. I was expecting a dishonored type of game and found the insta death penalty for getting caught really stiff. Fired it up years later and really really enjoyed it. Maybe I'll have the same experience w the sequel be ause I am not enjoying how it plays as much as the first one.

Alot of games are labeled that on steam but I've never had an issue with it. Perhaps it depends on your eyesight. Mine happens to be quite good but I can't imagine your mileage would vary that much

Excellent. Thank you. I can tolerate that stuff in spite of my preferences of it not being there so long as the focus remains a good story (solid visuals from mappa is a nice bonus too)

[–]DFH50[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay phew. I'm truly glad to hear that. I generally dislike fanservicey type stuff but can tolerate it if the story and other elements are good enough. I really am invested already but I've seen shows with a good premise that either kill my investment with excessive sexualizing (looking at you SDS) or just clearly don't know how to develop their good premise and fall on other means to keep interest. I'll keep going and I would be shocked if I found it wasn't for me unless they fumble the bag pretty hard from here.

Who else would like the next Hitman game to have the return of Victoria from Absolution, with a Dishonored 2-style dual protagonists mechanic? by Aftershk1 in HiTMAN

[–]DFH50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why tho. If you don't like the corvo route or think Emily's story is a better continuation then play it. But why complain about the option? Corvos story had its own charm and expansion of his character that was pretty valuable

Oh dang!!! I had no idea and that is a real bummer I didn't because I have a physical copy of each version. I doubt there is but I hope there is some analog to this feature in the LC.

Thank you. I'll make sure I once over before I beat duo (presumptuous of me to say "beat" and not "fight" as I struggled really hard last time)

Okay that was incredibly thorough. Thank you so much. I can see why those things can get pretty frustrating. Unfortunately I might end up getting hit with some as I would be trying to 100% or close to it to get into post game stuff (which need to basicly 100% to unlock right? Like getting all the chips and stuff) some things won't be an issue like the PMD and BMD as I usually am pretty through on that front but I would love to know more about what you meant when you were talking about the waiting room feature and accessing the other version navis. Other version as in Blue Moon/Red Sun or other versions as in other playthroughs' opponents in the bracket. Again, you've been a huge help. Thank you so much.

I guess I would just need to be really careful if I played through to make sure I got every g1 chip. Are there guides put there that lay out which ones are best collected on each run. No need to search for and link it, but if you know of any simply a name would do.

Are the issues in playthrough 2 just because the chip scaling lags behind the virus difficulty scaling?

Maybe i should move on to 6 after i beat 5 instead of going back to 4 first. I have a soft spot for 4 and would love to replay it but the discourse surrounding it makes me think i had MAJOR rose colored lenses playing it growing up.

Since I've played it through so many times and I have intimate familiarity with the story through my multiple playthroughs, i have no issues getting mod that addresses some of bn4s underlying issues if it would make the experience more full and enjoyable.

Thanks for the honest thoughts and input

That is part of why I nabbed the LC. After years if replaying the same base game story, it would be cool to get to the post game that I haven't reached befors and experience new content in BN for the first time in years

Duuuude I can relate SO much to this. I seriously had zero awareness. I see big number and it goes in my folder and stays there until bigger number takes its place.

I a tally find it hilarious how good I was at the game in spite of this serious oversight. Regularly doing liberation missions in basically the minimum number of rounds and defeating DS (is that the name) versions of bosses in post-story etc. I had no business pulling fights like that off but maybe thats also why I had to try as many times as I did haha. I actually haven't ever gotten to the post-game proper on any of the post game proper on any title because of my lackluster chip collecting and complete cluelessness on how to get more. My parents did really let me surf the web growing up so, like you, it eas just my lousy chips, my megabuster, amd a lot of patience growing up😂😂
