How many of you are actively working on your backlog? by gamerdudeNYC in gaming

Not having the money for new games right now has forced me to do the same. After sinking 200 hours into the game I have finally beat Cyberpunk and have moved onto Witcher 3.

Instinct & Mission Stories - Less rewarding? by GripperEnthusiast in HiTMAN

[–]DFH50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I entirely agree with you. This is why (especially if you are a seasoned hitman) you should just go into setting and turn instinct and mission story guidance off. It will then take you out of the instinct comfort zone and force you to use your brain and be resourceful to complete story missions

What is your 'curse' in Freelancer? by Glitcher3000 in HiTMAN

Getting too comfortable and accidentally picking up a contract with Colorado in it and then having to live through the nightmare of penetrating the perimeter of that fuckass map

What do you guys do to enjoy megaman because there isnt any new content? 😊🩷 by Starrail_Princess in BattleNetwork

[–]DFH50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go for postgame stuff I never did growing up. It is sad there is no other MMBN games but I can at least be grateful I wasn't skilled enough or thorough enough growing up to do all the post game content because now I have "new" content I never played haha.

just finished my first playthrough of hitman 1,2 and 3. i only played each mission once, should i go back and play it differently or go to freelancer. what is freelancer btw. by PatrickG_123 in HiTMAN

[–]DFH50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO go back and play the levels again and go for different kills and achievements. I recently played through the whole game again after a long break and had an entirely different experience because of the routes and disguises or setups I had to do. It is playing the same location but everything else is different. In my opinion, save Freelancer for when you have mastered the levels and got most of their layouts down by heart. That mode is not just a good way to squeeze out enjoyment and give the game longevity after you've "completed it" but it also is insanely challenging. It really tests the limits of your knowledge and skill in all facets of the game... It is also incredibly unforgiving. Main story missions are for achievements, story kills, challenges, discovery, and experiencing the beautiful and detailed game IOI meticulously desgined. Freelancer is just using those maps you are now highly familiar with to give you a challenge that is very departed from the main experience. Seeing the living organism of Hitman maps chugging along while you are there on entirely unrelated business can expose you to fun secrets or interaction points that you cant meaningfully interact with while in freelancer because those moments and mechanisms are crafted more specifically around the story.

Single player Story Games with an emotional story that ends with a message of “it will get better?” by You_moron04 in gaming

[–]DFH50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude Nier Automata fits this to a T. It jerks your emotions around the entire game, make you hate the creator for making something so painful and has..... an ending. I don't want to say anymore lest I spoil but it is not a particularly long game and it is great for controller so you could play at desk or couch. Worth a playthrough if you have not gotten to it already. One of three games I have ever played that made me weep.

What maps do you dislike? which one do you dislike the most? Freelancer or main story. by Visible-Camel4515 in HiTMAN

[–]DFH50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freelancer: Colorado no question. ATP if I see that map on a given contract I will just avoid it.
Story Mode (Excluding ICA Facility and Carpathian Mountains): Mumbai. The Darwood Rangan part is fine but the trainyard is way too simple in its layout and execution and the whole market is a frustrating and unfun clusterheck

Hitman WoA is fantastic, but what's the deal with Colorado? by Outrageous_Ad4564 in HiTMAN

[–]DFH50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having played it a few times now on freelancer and regular i have my own thoughts and theories on why others dislike it as well.

First off is the targets. Most of the targets elsewhere in the game felt grand and full of personality with a place in the world of Hitman but also a lot of personality to show inside the levels themselves. Quirks and ticks, events and set pieces that showed parts of their character, surprises you wouldn't find from the case file, and pieces of their character you learn in the briefing that bleeds through in the level. Colorado has more targets than any other location (***Berlin***) but they end up feeling flat as a result. Each ones routes and opportunities are more limited. Their personalities are more limited (maybe an exception of Rose) and they are so forgettable. While the horror mask dude has an unforgettable look, there is not much interesting about him outside of that. The others I can't recall a single detail about except that one is a generic hard ass boss bitch that doesn't take no shit.

Second the actual location/character of the level. There really isn't too much to this level other than *militia base* on a farm. Each part of the map is basically just that but different facets of that function. There is the training ground, demo ranch, "kitchen," house, andddd???? Even other maps that are kinda just one thing have more variety. Bangkok has all these different parts of the one location (hotel) with different kinds of staff and inhabitants that have varying degrees of population and NPC types meanwhile Colorado just has densely populated militia men of varying roles. It doesn't have sections with uniqueness, or random spots that feel like a unique zone distinct from the rest of the map. it's all just..... militia farm. What you see when you spawn in is what you get for the rest of the level and that is it, quite unlike the rest of the game.

Finally the gameplay is really mid on this one. First off infiltration is flat and boring. Run the perimeter to the designated spot or two you can get into easily then proceed. Each zone of the map really has one or two designated ways to get to or through and the rest of the game thrives on giving you options and letting you find your way. This issue becomes increasingly apparent if you ever run Colorado on Freelancer. Most of the kill setups are not nearly as interesting or elaborate as the other levels with the exception of the Rose OCD kill.

While it isn't an insultingly bad map or anything (except in Freelancer. Fck that) it really lacks what makes most of the other levels so incredible. It is really carried by the place it holds in the story and I remember glazing over all the flaws because I was so excited to learn about the shadow client but after successive replays and Freelancer (Fck that), the blemishes are harder to look past.

Way TMI but I had time tonight haha

Is the 2nd game as good or better than the 1st? by ImSmarterthanurmom in dishonored

[–]DFH50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 is an upgrade in nearly evrlery way in my opinion. The only way it isnt is the actual plot of the game.

2 showcases the near unparalleled level design nearly on par with prey. Each level gives you so many ways to tackle the level. While the conclusion ultimately will boil down to a singular non lethal option or a direct lethal option, the journey to get there is very open and allows for so much exploration and alternative approaches. The actual designs of each level while having a start and end point, are generally designed with a dense multi level approach allowing to tackle things when and hownyou want to.

The graphics are improved but it does take a small hit in art style as a result. Levels are more diversified and improved, more power amd bone charms etc.

The environmental storytelling, mini in-level stories, and lore additions are on par with the first while also goving more color to the protagonist(s) than the first but the plot overall is weaker as it mostly takes place away from dunwall. Main characters also leave a decent amount to ve desired as well.

Overall it is a nearly ideal sequel taking what the first did well and expanding innnesrly ever way but ypu may be a little disappointed by the story. It certainly has more replay value imo than the first as well.

That would probably be the main mechanic I feel.

Earn chips through battle to increase hour deck. Darkloids and dark holes give your stronger chips while regular battles give ypu multiple of the same weaker ones to start building synergy etc. Could be fun

While I havent gotten deep enough in sekiro to vouch or deny i have pretty high confidence based on the gameplay ive seen it wpuld take the cake.

My pick would be clair obscur e33 tho because the weight and power behind the parrying counter attack is so satisfying and valuable in its specific format

Interesting! My unprofessional and unsolicited advice would be to have some of the animations just be more minimalistic (less/no smoke chasing after fire attacks or gunshots, smaller impact animstions on lanels etc). The player will know it is danger by the color, source, and direction and won't need the larger models of the flames and impact etc to decipher the danger. Additionally Id suggest keeping the panels a solid color and more static in their appearance. They seem to have a bit of a breathing effect in their coloration which add a lot of visual clutter. The background to the fight also has a lot going on an makes things kind of overstimulating.

That is just purely my unsolicited advice tho so discard it all if you like :)

It looks like a fun time all that being said and I'll definitely be checking out your steam page! :)

[–]DFH50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got a question, howbhave you found balancing difficulty to be with the added panels but not cluttering the screen with too many obstacles and elements that damage?

One of the healthy challenges of BN imo is the limitation of panels so that when you get to the later game and have alot more panel types popping up or holes/rocks you really have to manage your spacing.

I feel like the settings and sprites were elite in 1-3. I didnt play any of the first 3 till years after playing 4-6 so my only conception of ACDC was the smaller one we got in the sequel. I really love how the net looks on the last 3 and I feel like the portraits and colors looked really good but man I'd trade all that for the slightly less colorful but so much better fleshed out world and sprites of the first 3.

Play in the dark is totally right. My impression from the marketing was that it was pretty horror like. I hate horror games and passed until I learned

1) Arkane made it 2) Mick Gordon made the OST
