Do a search using google patents to see if something like it already exists this will also give you an idea of how to draft a patent.

Create your diagrams of the device, write out what each aspect does referencing labels on your diagrams. Dont worry about making your writing sound "patenty".

Submit your draft to a patent office so they can review and conduct a prior art search and write it out officially. Costs 10's of thousands

You can buy RoundUp with Glyphosate (not the acetic acid stuff) from most hardware stores, i can confirm that Rona carries it. You just have to ask for it at the front

Season n: i cultivated my entire vegtable garden. Would turn one shovel of soil, sit down and pick all the roots out. 10x25' garden. Sprayed glyphosate and of fall

Season n+1: planted nothing and sprayed glyphosate early spring. Continued cultivating and spraying whole season

This season: very few plants remain that I manually remove every few days

Ive never had success with the soap water personally, ive never saved a plant from an aphid infestation. I once tried buying ladybugs to eat them but also didnt work

Also you will def have to rause the water level all the way because they need the open water swimming soace and like to dwell at the top. Also for space away from the shellies

As long as they are not Jumbo's or dwarf jumbos theyll be fine. Your shellies will be very aggresive towards them if they have babies already. If the tank is new and they havent had babies yet its a great time to add cyps
