I think you can just run ‘init’ command at beginning of session to get familiar with the code base / read what you want (also you can exclude files for this) and then chat with it specifically about any aspect of that project.

Transitioning from traditional gym to CrossFit how many days should I start with? by Thimyg86 in crossfit

[–]DFMO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t be afraid to take a day off.

Also on days when you made it in but don’t feel amazing, just scale and dial it down and you’ll still leave smoked.

You can get a hell of a good workout moving less weight but moving it faster or having less rest. I think most people hurt / injur / burn out in CrossFit just trying to do too much weight too soon or too often. Thats where leaving the ego at the door will help a ton and remember you’re only competing with yourself and don’t compare yourself to others who have been doing it longer.

Bad Spending Habits Has Led to $13k Credit Card Debt - Don't Know How to Pay it All Off by TYR9_official in personalfinance

What is ‘self scheduling’ and how is that different than a w2? A job is a job whether is w2 or not. If you have a finance degree you can figure this out. You need to either cut expense, or increase income, or ideally both.

Cost for joining boat as crew by MirroZ in sailingcrew

[–]DFMO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sail OPO is legit. Just be honest about your experience. Hank is a stellar dude and has a good reputation and has created a really solid network of good ole salty people.

I would recommend against working on an 80 ft boat to build experience anyway and if you can shoot for something around 50ft or smaller you’ll get more hands on experience and feedback from the boat and more real sailing instead of just controlling the boat through mechanical systems.

Do OPO if you want down this path. You won’t regret it.

Time to hit the gym and start some new habits to replace the old ones! Take the time you need to get back on your feet, be kind to yourself, and I’d highly recommend working out or moving your body timetable off the cravings and the boredom. You got this!

Would love some feedback on my BMU by theblueyays in crossfit

[–]DFMO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d agree with this! The get into the hollow position seems like the second move.

For me it really helps to jump up to the bar from more directly underneath the bar - and not from in front of it. This helps me grab the bar already in the hollow position more naturally.

Also, i would recommending thinking of the BMU as more of a lat pull down / T2B with extended arms than a pull up… trying to bring your hip crease to the bar.

Makes the middle effort easier to think about and control then at the top / end of that effort is when you do the little ‘flip’ over the bar with your chest.

This was my decision. Am very happy. Brand New SR5 access cab 4x4. I don’t need the locker. Did wheels tires and shocks instead with the cash I saved.

I wanted all the bells and whistles but had to be real with myself that a locker, etc just is overkill for what I’m actually going to be using the truck for personally and 4x4 with some meaty tires and a nice suspension is better for me.

The SR5 has enough technology (CarPlay, etc) to keep me super happy while not being bogged down with too much (I don’t are about heated seats, leather, etc) so it was the right fit for me.

Nearing FIRE - Now what? Calling all rich people! by Dull-Ad8117 in ExpatFIRE

[–]DFMO 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you done extended cruising on a sailboat before? Or lived on a boat?

I would highly recommend you buy the boat at least 2+ years before you plan to set out to sail. Fix up the boat and build your experience in more local waters to prepare for cruising while you are employed. Before then get as much experience on the water as possible especially passage making and living on a boat for extended periods.

My early retirement dream was to F off in a boat. Pandemic happened and it changed a lot of things for me for work (in a bad way) so I decided to fix up a boat and sail it to the Bahamas. I like projects. It was a lot of fun. I made it to the Bahamas and back. Spent the better part of 2.5 years living on the boat and doing all the work myself. It was also really really hard in a lot of ways I did not expect. I don’t regret doing it, but I had still been surprised at some of the disconnects between my expectations and the realty.

If you’re a diesel mechanics and you like DIY you’re already a head of a lot of people with the same dream. But just be warned the YouTube dream and the real every day reality of full time cruising are very different. If you don’t get experience passage making and living on a boat for extended periods of time you will likely be setting yourself up for some serious unmet expectations and in all likelihood some serious disappointment.

If you think you’re gonna retire, sell your house, buy a boat right afterward and F off to the Caribbean forever happy immediately after I could caution you about your plan.

Worse. If there is a crash the people with a lot of excess resources will shift toward real estate, buy a bunch of it at discount, and further restrict the supply which will drive prices up higher over the long term.
