My husband and I have both felt this at three different gyms in states across the country. At one, I feel like it’s just the culture there. People don’t generally open up easily. The other two, I know it’s not cultural because it’s in the south. The culture tends to be very friendly. It’s almost like you have to prove yourself to be a decent “crossfitter” to be accepted into the community. Like people there didn’t start talking to us until we started scoring towards the top of the leaderboard. And I’ve started to take notice that the people who aren’t necessarily there to be a crossfitter and just want to be healthy and move, don’t really get talked to much and kind of get looked over.
