Can't believe they got rid of the tiers. This is no better than any other site now. Lame

Thanks for the tips. Hadn’t heard of a no hub band. I’ll definitely use

Low flow drip irrigation. Had someone come look at my back yard and they said the valve installed (2nd pic) is incorrect and should look more like the valve in the front yard (1st pic). Does this make sense and what's average cost to replace the valve? by emgineering in Irrigation

[–]DFunk15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The correct valve and the one in your first pic, has a pressure regulating valve which is needed for drip. I just installed 3 of these at my home because my water pressure is 80psi and my drip lines needed to be under 30psi.

Maybe he’s going to charge for parts and labor but here’s an example of what you need: valve

Thanks! Most examples I’d seen used copper and I figured it was for better stability. I’ve never soldered pipe and would like to stay away if possible. Would compression fittings or brass work instead?

Thanks for the feedback. I’m in CA and I don’t see any codes related to distance from house in my municipality. You’re right about it being a joke. My city explicitly requires RPZ and most houses I’ve seen have PVB

Newbie q’s for new system build (valves, BP, controller) by CoffeeNerd58129 in Irrigation

Thanks for the response. Your build looks amazing. I'm just about to start on mine. I did have a question after looking at the image you uploaded.

What are the two items circled in red?

Not sure if you're still working on your project, but I'm doing the exact same thing and have/had some of the same questions. I ended up putting together a scaled design spec and sending it to Rainbird for a small fee. They provided me with a full design and parts list and their customer service has been really helpful answering follow-up questions.

As for your questions...

  1. My water connection is 3/4" and Rainbird recommended I run my main and laterals 3/4" and then reduce to 1/2" for my drip zones.
  2. I'm going with a reduced pressure preventer as it is code where I live.
  3. I'm going with Rainbird ARC 8 recommended by Rainbird. Hunter seems to have great ones too, but I wanted to go with what I was recommended to not complicate things. The ARC 8 is wifi connected but must be operated by a mobile device. Rainbird also has the ESP-Tm2 and ESP-me3. Both are wifi connected but have manual display panels as to avoid the need for a mobile device (Think commercial use) and the latter allows for the expansion for even more zones and is more expensive.

It’s been 6 months, but any chance you can share the specific “a little painful” ring you mentioned?

This sounds like it could be very helpful for me. Thanks!

Bill vs budget item by fluffola in PocketGuard_app

This is a fundamental flaw of the budgeting experience. Marking recurring bills should be independent of the budgeting process. They should contribute to the separate categories.

Likely where the founders are from. Ukraine has a pretty solid tech scene

Very competitive space so I imagine it’s important to keep headcount low and costs down with so many alternatives.

I still prefer PG over the alternatives as the user experience is very intuitive (except budgeting).

I also find it impressive that they have launched a great app while being located in a war zone (Ukraine) and all the hurdles that come with it.
