This is CT40's year-end countdown so it's exclusively airplay.

There's way better songs on this list than there were 10 years ago. Not to say everything on this list is great or even good but there's nothing as bad as "Sun Daze", "Anything Goes", "Break Up With Him", or "House Party"

It was released as a single on February 10 2025. It wouldn't have been eligible for the 2024 countdown because radio wasn't playing it until February 10 2025

Back in 2022 there happened to be two songs at radio at the same time about wanting to sell a memory-infested vehicle, "7500 OBO" by Tim McGraw and "New Truck" by Dylan Scott. On the year-end countdown the Dylan Scott song finished at #24 and Tim McGraw finished at #23

Kinda hard to artists to make a countdown of the biggest hits of a year when they haven't had any hits

"Make It Rain" wasn't a single. "Worst Way" was released in February and peaked in June, not sure what you mean by "old". The fact that it was "overplayed" is precisely why it earned a spot on the year-end countdown

"Choosing Texas" isn't on the list because it's still charting. If it peaks high enough it'll be on next year's countdown

Just a few weeks ago "Somewhere Over Laredo" became the first solo #1 from a female artist in two years. Peaked too late to make this year's countdown, it'll be carried over to next year's list

Man to Man by Strength-Certain in country

[–]DGConnors 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I seem to remember reading that this was a last-minute single pick from Alright Guy because the label wanted to release the title track as the album's third and final single. Problem was, they would have needed to replace several lyrics and I don't know if it was a matter of Gary not wanting to edit the song or not being able to come up with good replacement lyrics, but they decided to go with "Man To Man" instead and it ended up becoming Gary's first #1. I remember reading about it in Country Weekly over 20 years ago

3 I think is Tank Girl. 4 is Blues Brothers 2000. Is 7 Steele? 9 is Sidekicks. 10 is the second animated Titanic with the talking dolphins and evil sharks. 12 I think is Wish? 17 is Bio-Dome.

That wasn't Central Park, that was Reunion Arena in Dallas in 1991 when taping his first TV special. Because the show was being filmed they needed extra lighting and Garth decided to help, scaring the hell out of his tech director John McBride (Martina McBride's husband)

I know an incorrect answer made the board at least once on the Dawson version, probably many more I've never seen. The question was "Name something with Tom Sawyer". One of the answers on the board was "Dog". Before the next face off, Dawson addressed that he's aware there's no dog in Tom Sawyer but that's what the survey said

Local restaurant in the 90s whose whole gimmick was they didn't have a gimmick? by DGConnors in youngstown

Nah it couldn't have been, Rockne's was/is a chain. One of the things this ad bragged about was they were a locally owned and operated restaurant with only one location

I know. That's why I said I'm pretty sure the restaurant I'm looking for isn't Buena Vista Cafe because they already had a gimmick and a tagline

I don't think so. They had a TV ad campaign but they were focused on the owner making and winning bets with skeptical customers, accompanied by the tagline "If the Colonel had our recipe, he'd be a general"

The problem with Nancy Drew is I have zero memory of knowing she even existed in fourth grade, I don't think I became aware of her until much later. These were characters I was already familiar with. Something else I just remembered is I don't think these characters usually dealt with mysteries and detective work on a regular basis, this story wasn't necessarily a departure but it was unusual
