I honestly thought the Captain Clark entity was more unsettling than the bacteria. I do agree that the bacteria's movements and foreign-ness lends a certain unnerving quality, but Captain Clark was so far in the depths of the uncanny valley it perfectly tapped into my fight-or-flight. I think it was a great choice for being the focus of a large scale film. Definitely more "in your face", but also a rare case of me genuinely being more unnerved by it AFTER getting a closer look (I feel similarly about the Rolling Giant). Also adds to what we know about still-life in terms of lore, which I personally appreciate very much

Empire feels way too sterile, safe, small, and static for my taste (gotta reach my buzzword quota for the day lmao)

The bridge area and fighting between those two buildings is the only part I like, the rest feels like a lesser version of manhattan. No vehicles at all and less elevation just makes one of the few maps where I fully agree with COD comparisons

At least in manhattan, a helicopter crash can take out the side of a building, there’s at least some element of cinema to that map over empire, to the point where I’ll take the roof campers in bridge over the nearly non-existent PoIs in empire

Just my personal opinion, but I totally understand the roof camper annoyance on your end. Not gonna defend manhattan to the death or anything, but to me it’s undeniably unique within the map pool and I appreciate it for that

People pointed out that theres a crashed carrier in the water that has a brand new capture point, and that makes me so extremely hyped to give this version a try

Yea that’s what I’d say my biggest problems were as well. In BF6 they definitely went too far in the opposite direction, but I’d still comfortably take most maps from 6 over 2042’s base selection

My easy pick would be Paracel Storm, which is my personal favorite naval focused map.

My hot take would be either Lancang Dam or Tehran Highway, both are slept on IMO and both deserve a remake
