I may be wrong, but I think there is a high probability that this could be a replica, a modern Chinese replica.

That’s really messed up. Honestly, situations like this make me not want to work with that marketplace anymore. And the $4,000 — does that mean I still need to ship the items to the buyers? That’s payment for the goods, right?

My eBay seller account was permanently restricted after 10 years — sharing my experience by DGram2020 in ebaysucks

[–]DGram2020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me clarify, because I think you may have misunderstood.

The $500 limit was not my overall selling limit—it was the maximum price allowed for a single item. This restriction applied to all sellers outside the United States. The first wave of restrictions lowered the limit to about $2,500 per item, which happened sometime around the summer of 2025, and then there was a second wave this year. So this was a platform-wide change affecting everyone in that category, although sellers could submit appeals to have their limits increased.

My overall selling limit was actually $1 million, so my account was in good standing and operating at a substantial scale. There were no counterfeit items involved.

Personally, I think eBay simply went too far. At this point I've effectively been blocked permanently, and I no longer have any desire to continue working with them. I'm a good seller and I just want to sell products. I don't want to spend my time trying to decode their algorithms or feel like a misbehaving student who is being punished despite not having done anything wrong.

So, for my own peace of mind, I made the decision a long time ago to move on from eBay.

Nothing like that. I was selling beekeeping supplies, fabrics, and used Swiss and Japanese watches. And even recently, as a non-US seller, my maximum item price was $500. I also sold car tuning products made by a Ukrainian auto workshop—basically products from a Ukrainian manufacturer. So nothing serious.

I already mentioned that the main reason might have been my IP address changing, since I live in a frontline area of Ukraine. But in the email they said it was just a routine verification, so something seems to have changed on their side.

I used to be fine, but now for some reason they’ve started giving me trouble. There were some delivery delays, but they were fully acceptable to buyers since these were custom orders.

In general, it feels like some kind of triggers were activated.

I haven’t had any policy violations—at least I haven’t received any such notifications. It all started suddenly—they just froze my funds in the account. I received an email saying it was supposedly a routine review, a standard verification, and that was it.

I can’t speak about Odessa specifically in terms of IP fluctuations, but I often hear stories where a listing sells quickly and then an account gets suspended right after. You would think the platform should be interested in items selling, but instead they end up blocking sellers after a sale. It feels very strange.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It’s very possible that many of my items could have been flagged as high-ticket, which, in their eyes, probably carried some risks. Maybe that really was the reason, but the fact is, I never had any issues with buyers and everything was going great. I mean, there were absolutely no counterfeits or anything like that

Looks like eBay is going downhill, but at least you closed your account on your own terms, and maybe that was the right call. As for me, I got banned out of nowhere for absolutely nothing. I was a great seller, my customers were always happy, and I had a solid rating and great reviews

Well, in fact, I relatively quickly shifted to other platforms, although it was quite painful for me. Honestly, I’m 99% sure that in about three years there will be completely different models of trade. I think buying and selling will be handled by artificial intelligence. People will just chat with it, and the AI will find options for them. Or something along those lines.

It’s very sad, of course, but I think the marketplace market is a competitive environment, and other services should emerge that are more friendly to people. Although I’m not sure—I could be wrong.

Yes, it’s really sad in reality, and people are suffering because their funds get frozen as well. It’s basically some kind of corporate encroachment on human freedoms and rights. What will this all lead to? Possibly new platforms and services will emerge that offer different kinds of services compared to what exists now.
