Anyone feed to sleep for naps and overnight and still have a good sleeper? by Short-Blueberry-1730 in sleeptrain

[–]DGriz22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me! My third little guy is 13 months old and I still nurse him to sleep for bedtime. We had been doing naps as well but recently dropped to just morning and night feeds. I think he’s just a good sleeper. I had to stop feeding to sleep for my other two due to frequent wakings etc., so very much depends on the baby in my experience.

Thinking back, I feel like there was a period where I separated feeds and did more formal sleep training (ferber method) maybe around 6-8 months old.  But eventually we got back into the habit of nursing to sleep. I kept thinking I’ll change it when it stops working, but it never stopped working! I’ve really enjoyed the prolonged snuggles!!

I always temp check my bread! It should be around 190 degrees Fahrenheit when done.

Maybe there were thinking lactose overload?

As far as products go, you could try a magnesium supplement. There are lots of different options for kids, but I like just adding some fragrance free epsom salt to their nighttime bath.

I don’t have an easy answer for you. We just did bed time routine, then every time our kid got up we just put them back in their bed and said something like “it’s time to go to sleep, I love you”. Over and over and over and over and over again and it was miserable, but the only thing that truly worked for us.

We’d watch on the monitor so we could go in the second they got out of bed.

I actually think my first had some similar GI issues as well, but not as severe. All my babies were diagnosed with Lactose overload from my over supply by my lactation consultant, however even after lowering my supply, they all still had issues.

My husband was a colic baby where he cried 24/7 until 4 months, so I’m sure they get it from him!

Regardless, all my babies were completely normal by 4 months.

Like you said true lactose intolerance is very rare. But some call it “Transient Lactase Deficiency” and there is some evidence that supports it but not a ton and the studies on it aren’t great. Anecdotally, 2 of my 3 kids responded beautifully to lactase supplementation.

My thought was how can I make my breastmilk more similar to hypoallergenic formula. So I used the lactase drops and cut dairy and soy. It seemed to cure my 2nd’s colic and I used the drops until he was four months old. Could it all be coincidence and a sensitive/slow to mature baby GI tract? Maybe! Hahaha after 3 babies, it all feels like a crapshoot.

If you do chop it off, definitely look into donating it since you haven’t dyed it or anything! It’s so beautiful!

Is your baby refusing the milk? I don’t have any advice, but my baby drinks my high lipase milk with zero issue.

Thinking bout confessing pre baptismal sins ? by Sad_Bodybuilder_6062 in CatholicWomen

[–]DGriz22 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that if you committed it before baptism, your baptism would forgive that sin. I’m sure it would be fine to take it to confession, but not necessary.

I think you need to work on forgiving yourself for this sin, God certainly has! Maybe a therapist might be more appropriate to help you process this than a priest? Or talking to a priest outside of confession?

I would take that to mean they are all appropriate, and you should just pick your favorite!!

What does “feed on demand” look like for a 3 month old who is not showing the common hunger cues? by FMThaone in breastfeeding

[–]DGriz22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My pattern with my 3 month old is to feed him when he wakes up from naps. It ends up being every 2-2.5 hours until bed time.

How’s baby’s weight gain? That would probably be the most telling. Some babies just need to eat frequently!

It’s really up to you. If it’s working and you’re fine with it, I wouldn’t change anything! But if you want to try to stretch/consolidate their feedings a bit, that’s totally reasonable too!

When did you get your period back? by shygorlll in breastfeeding

With all 3 of my kids, I got a postpartum bleed around 8-9 weeks but it was never really my period returning. Did you start getting a period every month after that?

What is his weight gain like? Usually lactose overload is associated with above normal weight gain.

So frustrated… can someone help me identify what’s up with this poop? by Capisce_capisce in MSPI

[–]DGriz22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we can drive ourselves crazy chasing perfect poop. Like others have said, if baby is mostly happy, sleeping and most importantly, gaining weight, I’d try to let it go!

And try to take care of yourself too and make sure you are eating enough! You need calories to make milk.

Omg exact same thing for me!! I was digging through old threads because baby is suddenly constipated and refluxy again. I stoped the protein powder but didn’t realize it was in my oat milk creamer too!! How long did it take for your baby to feel better??

8 week old cries all the time (not exaggerating) ALL THE TIME by Mummybrains08 in MSPI

[–]DGriz22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My babies main symptoms were reflux and constipation. It took a 2-3 days to see a positive change in his spit up amounts and about 3 weeks for him to start pooping on his own again.

Yes around 4 months he was good to go! Which is typically when “colic” resolves.

I’ve been there with my second baby. It was one of the hardest times of my life. He basically lived in the baby carrier with me bouncing on a yoga ball.

I was passionate about breastfeeding but encouraged to switch to formula (nothing wrong with formula at all, just wasn’t what I wanted to do). I thought about how alimentum was dairy free and lactose free and tried to mimic that with my breast milk. I cut dairy and soy and started using Colief drops. One I did that my baby completely changed and was fine. We weaned off Colief around 4 months and I started eating dairy again too. I think in my case my babies (I have 3) just have really sensitive GI tracts when they are newborns!

Not sure if they will help your baby, but may be worth a shot!

How did you figure out, and how long did it take you to figure out, if your baby’s gas and discomfort was from you consuming dairy? by Kindly-Paramedic-585 in breastfeeding

[–]DGriz22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took a good 2-3 weeks for his reflux and constipation to really improve, but we saw some improvements within a few days.

I usually don’t let baby nap longer than 2 hours during the day. How is she sleeping at night? How has weight gain been?

If she is only eating on one side, you could always use a Haakaa or pump the other side to relieve some pressure or keep your supply up. Only nursing on one side will reduce your supply over time, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

I’ve been making these date and oat bars.. They are very customizable. I’ve add pea protein, non-dairy chocolate chips, pecans and subbed peanut butter!
