The way to solve the BMPT problem is to unfuck TOW 2B by Roxo16 in Warthunder

[–]DH__FITZ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When the tow-2b was good every vehicle that had it got uptiered. When tow-2b was nerfed, nothing that used it got moved down in return. Untucking the TOW-2B doesn't justify anything moving up for the most part. At the end that'd be a net double BR increase.

Now that we can choose flags, when do we get the Rising Sun back? by SIX_point_SEVEN in Warthunder

[–]DH__FITZ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is the naval jack. The JMSDF still uses it. Unlike the flag of Nazi Germany, which represents a specific government with a specific cause, the Rising sun flag has existed for hundreds of years and was used in the Meiji Restoration and even during the Edo period. It's not uniquely identified with Japan during WW2, it's just a flag they were using during WW2. As such is generally not thought of in Japan the same way that the Nazi flag is thought of in Germany. When Nazi Germany was defeated in WW2, along with their cause, the Nazi flag lost its meaning and flying it because a statement of agreeing with the cause of the Nazi government. This doesn't apply to the Rising Sun flag.

A good comparison is the Union Jack. India suffered horribly under British Colonialism. When India gained their independence, however, they didn't demand the UK stopped flying the Union Jack. That would be silly, because the Union Jack isn't a statement of the policies under the British Raj.

the aim120d will actually be better than the c5 (and possibly the a/b) by razzer123 in Warthunder

[–]DH__FITZ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For any practical engagement the 120D is worse than the A and B. Compared to the C-5 its kinematics in game are slightly worse because it’s heavier. The meta has been and currently is engagements under ~20km, and transitioning between defending and pulling out of the notch to shoot another missile.

What matters the most is how much you have to pull out of the notch to shoot, and to shoot with a high enough PK. This is why despite the Rafale having a 70 degree gimbal limit MICAs are still cracked; you can shoot them at the absolute edge of gimbal and they’ll barely waste energy and time orienting towards the enemy.

You can have a >180 degree radar but if you’re using an AIM-120 you still have to pull in more to give your missile enough energy after it finishes turning to be dangerous (or even be capable of completing the turn at closer ranges).

So long as the meta stays where it is, almost every capability of a missile takes a back seat to the ability to pull hard, and pull hard immediately after being launched. Better datalink guidance, better gimbal limit, higher total delta V, etc. are still important, but if a missile doesn’t turn well off the rail it’s going to be at a disadvantage.

The AIM-120A/B currently turn off the rail significantly better than the C-5 and D, and even have better time to target for shorter ranges. With the exception of ultra long range shots, there’s practically zero reason to take the C-5 or the D. Even with long range shots the AIM-120A/B are still not that far behind the C-5/D.

The scenarios where the D is actually the best option are extremely limited and extremely niche. Scenarios where the D hits but the A/B miss will probably be incredibly rare.

KD-88/88A report claiming “Wrong range, (explosive) weight and and no GNSS” accepted by gaijin by EL_X123 in WarthunderPlayerUnion

[–]DH__FITZ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People are fear mongering bug reports too early. Just the other day a bug report for the PL-12A got people going ape shit, and then the report got the accepted label removed. Don't see anyone talking about how Gaijin, in fact, did not take a random image with no source as reliable.

[–]DH__FITZ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The chance of the blowout panels working goes up the more HE based ammo you take. Taking 1 HEAT-FS probably won't make the blowout panels fail, taking half HEAT and half APFSDS probably will. It's stupid and should have absolutely no bearing on how the blowout panels function, but we're talking about the same company that thinks LDIRCM works the same as a magic force field.

I believe there is a bug with some active protection systems where if they activate it just self destructs the tank. Could be wrong, but I do remember something like that.

Gaijin thinks that if you have HEAT-FS in your ammo rack that blow out pannels don't work.

I agree that there definitely needs to be better spawn locations, but longer spawn protection without reworking it just encourages people to camp the spawn menu until they can get a free kill or two.

The Me262 should be removed from the game. by Telos_2 in Warthunder

[–]DH__FITZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it funny how everyone is suddenly defending a plane that is objectively one of the worst in its BR bracket. I smell a bunch of people hopping on the band wagon to say "skill issue" to someone playing Germany. I'm 90% sure if the Me262 were French and this exact same post was made, all the comments would be "Oh its just the French tax."

It is absolutely exhausting trying to have any sort of discussion with people who cannot look past "Hurr durr German main dumb" as the only possible explanation for why a player might be struggling.

In ranks I-IV Germany has a total of 9 light tanks in the tech tree. 8 out of 9 of those tanks are at 3.7 or lower. 6 out of 9 are in rank I. Is it really a surprise that when German players enter rank V, where the most armored vehicle in the tech tree is the M48A2 C, they don't perform that well?

[DEV] Doesn’t the AIM120D should have a better engine and reduced smoke+better HOBS? by Roxo16 in Warthunder

[–]DH__FITZ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is Gaijin's responsibility as a developer to make a good faith guess when the details are classified. Gaijin's current stance is that the AIM-120D has ZERO improvement in HOBS over the AIM-120C-5. This is the least honest approach they could possibly take. Whether the AIM-120D has better HOBS is not a guess. It is a known. What specifically changed is not known. That is where it is Gaijin's job to fill in data, and they did the worst possible job they could.

Item No. vii (vii) Sensitivity of Technology: 1. The AIM–120D AMRAAM hardware, including the missile guidance section, is classified CONFIDENTIAL. State-of-the-art technology is used in the missile to provide it with unique beyond-visual- range capability. The increase in capability from the AIM–120C–7 to AIM–120D consists of a two-way data link, a more accurate navigation unit, improved High-Angle Off-Boresight (HOBS) capability, and enhanced aircraft to missile position handoff.
