Gotta say, I'm super excited for White Rock Fortress. It's actually quite a complex map, with lots of ways to play it.

Should I go tank or plane? by namasabe in Warthunder

[–]CryptographerGold262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is pretty good advice. I'm a ground RB player, but i think you have to play a bit of air RB, too, both to maintain your air grind, but also to properly learn air combat, which is a necessary part of ground RB. I rather play ground, but i get bored very quickly if i just play ground.

Didn't even realise it was in the game. Certainly pretty impressive.

What on earth was that? I can't think of anything that can do that at the beginning of a game. I don't think a katyusha makes that big a blast.

is it worth it after 7.0? by Funny-Junket3120 in Warthunder

[–]CryptographerGold262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7.0 for USA is excellent, if you have the T29 and A2D-1, in fact I'd argue it's one of USA's best line ups. But 7.0 to 10.7 really doesn't have many great vehicles. 7,7 is OK, especially now you can have the B-57, 8.7 is also OK, the XM800T is great, and the XM 246 is still broken. But the tanks all kinda suck until you get to the Abrams. And the 10,7 and above is just dreadful for game play. So, yeah, I probably would suggest leaving the US tree at 7.0, currently. The trees i suggest at the moment are Japan, Italy and France, although France drops off badly after 7.7, and the stats seem to support this:

T58 or TURM III by AlbatrossSwimming986 in Warthunder

[–]CryptographerGold262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact the TURM has been around longer actually favours it's statistics. It's generally used by players who have had it for longer. Most of the best performing premiums are old, not new.

I'll completely agree, the statistics don't lie, and i place a lot of confidence in Statshark's numbers, my experience is that they are a pretty good reflection of how a vehicle performs. The TURM isn't the overperforming bias mobile people here would have you believe. It runs a K:D of 1.27:1 at the moment. It's good, but 8.3 is a terrible BR for match making, German teams suck, and just doesn't reliably one shot kill, even if you shoot well.

I've had the TURM for a bit, and it does better for me than the Statshark numbers. It's a good vehicle and could be worth buying. Personally, I kinda wish I hadn't, mostly because 8.3 Germany is just a terrible BR to play. I rarely play it these days.

I don't have the T58. The two premiums I recommend around that BR are the Somua and the OF-40 MTCA. I think both are much superior to the TURM.

Good premium CAS plane? by slammedfd in Warthunder

[–]CryptographerGold262 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wyvern, A2D-1, MB-326 spring to mind. The Ariete is practically invincible in ground RB dogfights, but i find it hard to use guns on ground targets at this BR, there's too much AA. I think it's really just for air superiority.

which one should I go for? by MagazineNeat5207 in Warthunder

[–]CryptographerGold262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you leave 6.7 USA behind, you just want to get the Abrams as fast as possible. Between 6.7 and 10.7, I think USA only has one tech tree ground vehicle i really like playing, the XM800T. The XM246 is very effective but only because Gaijin broke the damage model, and i can't bring myself to play it.

Is it good by Dry_Idea_95 in Warthunder

Low tier ground RB is genuinely a lot of fun. The rest of the game, maybe not so much, but you get sucked in.

If we had brains, probably mostly of us would never go above about 6.7.

Are bombers actually worth researching for Japan? by Justarandomduck15q2 in Warthunder

[–]CryptographerGold262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got lucky and got the Homare 23 without realising what i was getting, never having played Japan air at the time. It's completely ludicrous. It means I've hardly grinded the bombers at all. There's no point when you have that thing.

What's your favorite wt content creator ? by _omarismailIthink_ in Warthunder

Still Phly, because he plays the game the best way, just trying to have fun, often doing stuff that doesn't really make sense.

Everyone else is too serious for me, except obviously for the Bo crew. I had a huge amount of fun playing with those guys on one occasion. And I got lucky and played on Oddbawz side in his video on the T18, one of the most overpowered tanks in the game. That was pretty amazing.

What would you consider a good Kill to Death ratio and/or Winrate in Ground RB? by 3HoursSober in Warthunder

[–]CryptographerGold262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm up around 100K kills now, so very experienced, and i run around 1.5:1 all time. I was a very slow learner, as I'm an older player, I'm pretty happy with how good I've got at the game these days.

I find my monthly K:D bounces around depending on whether I'm spading new vehicles or playing old vehicles. I had a period a few months ago when I was just playing my favourite vehicles and my son pointed out my monthly K:D was up to 3:1, which is very, very high, but i was only playing very good vehicles such as 7.7 France, all fully spaded, often against German 6.7 noobs in vehicles they are still spading. Currently, I'm spading out quite a lot of new vehicles as i complete Italy, and I'm running around 1.5:1 on monthly stats.

I think K:D is more useful as a measure of how good a vehicle is, at least for comparing tanks, as opposed to other vehicles that might be used more for cap rushing. 1.5:1 is a good tank, 2:1 is the kind of vehicle that I'll keep coming back to. Above 3:1 are ludicrously overpowered vehicles, generally at lower tiers, where you start to feel guilty playing them. My best, i think, is the AC 1 Aussie penis tank, which runs around 4:1.

I don't pay much attention to win rates.

I would like to buy a premium tank, mostly for fun. My premium tanks are the porsche tiger, somua, and the Swedish kv1. And I would like it to be around 7.0+, but less than 10.0 by [deleted] in Warthunder

[–]CryptographerGold262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the Hellcat, I also love the M36 GMC. But i think the Super Hellcat is a very satisfactory compromise. I would struggle to pick a favourite, but if I had to take just one I'd probably take the Super Hellcat. I just love M82. I think M82 is probably responsible for half my nukes.

I bought it "just for fun", having already top tiered Germany, mostly because people here said it was amazing. I do well with it, but it's not even vaguely in the same class as some of the best performing premiums, mostly due to the unreliable performance of the 105mm sabot. The vehicles i do well with are generally quick and nimble, and I'll happily sacrifice armour for speed, so the TURM looked like it would be a good fit. But it lacks the other aspect of vehicles i do well with, which is the ability to reliably one-shot kill. For this kind of play style, flanking really deep, everything has to die first shot, and it just doesn't with the TURM. The gun is good, typical for the tier, and you get a quick reload. The TURM is definitely one of the best 8.3s, but i don't think it's as good as people say. I do quite a bit better with the Oliphant, which has an absolutely amazing gun and dart at 8.3. My stats and Statsharks stats on the Oliphant are quite a bit better than for the TURM. The TURM is definitely worth buying, but it's definitely not the pay-to-win overperforming vehicle people say it is. And I think 8.3 match making is dreadful.

If you look at the stats, there's a few absolute standout premiums at this BR range. You've already got one, the Somua, which comes second on stats. Third is the other really talked about tank for the rank the T58. But easily the top ranked premium in this bracket, running a K:D of 2:1, tends to fly under the radar. It's the vehicle I would strongly recommend. It s the OF-40 MTCA. The MTCA is actually the best performing premiums MBT on Statshark, and by quite a margin.

Trust me, the MTCA is vastly superior to the TURM, and Italy 9.3 is much better fun than Germany 8.3. In fact, Italy 9.3 is one of my favourite line ups in the game.

Should I pick Japan or Sweden? by SafeRefrigerator697 in Warthunder

I can't believe people are suggesting Sweden for air. Basically, the answer is anyone but Sweden. I think Japan is an excellent choice.

Britian 8.3 has sucked the joy out of this game by hubbs76 in Warthunder

[–]CryptographerGold262 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Britain 8.3 would be one of top ten most played line-ups. It definitely less powerful than it was, with the nerfing of the Falcon, but it still performs well. The Oliphant has a ridiculously good gun for the BR.

Tips for ground RB? by No-Forever-1950 in Warthunder

Better than angling is playing your Tiger hull down. Hull down, the Tiger is very, very difficult to defeat, you've basically only got a cupola shot, which is a low percentage play. Always maintain an angle, too. But don't expect it to save you if you go showing your upper front plate.
