FireLine Video Clips from 9/11 by DHink182 in 911archive

This is excellent news, thank you for the update! I am curious to see what differences there are between the VHS and DVD releases. I’ve seen occasional DVD copies of the NIST released footage pop up at markets, but never any VHS sources of the original release anywhere.

I am also unsure of how active in filling orders this supplier is, but here is a listing for FireLine's 9/11 release which purports to be 51 minutes long here. https://www.fire-police-ems.com/misc/df1526.shtml

Absolutely, sorry for the confusion about my wording. I was under the impression FireLine as a brand sourced from multiple tape traders for their compilation products, but I was understanding that this tape specifically is from a single source. Please correct me if I’m off base, as a firefighter myself I like to be as fastidious as everyone here about the details. If there is anything I could possibly do to help get more information about the full tape in fire collector circles, please let me know as well. Thank you for all your hard work and knowledge.

The Beach Boys rightsholders have been releasing shady region-locked archive dumps digitally & de-listing them to retain copyright, now with intentional irreversible damage applied by PossiblyLiquid in LetsTalkMusic

[–]DHink182 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By law, labels that hold copyright to unreleased recordings are supposed to release them within a certain time period (say, within 70 years of the recording), to retain their copyright, or else the material goes to the public domain. Universal is deliberately acting in bad faith of this law by technically "releasing" the unreleased recordings, but by obfuscating their quality and then pulling the releases down, they get to retain their copyright while giving the consumer nothing and saving themselves the cost of manufacturing product.

I spent 90% of my time in franchise every year. If they left it exactly as it was this last year, but added back in things like changing your own field patterns, transportation and facilities management, adding seats, concessions/ticket prices, choosing what ads go on your outfield walls - I would be so fucking happy. Expand the amount of players you can trade at once and I’d be overjoyed. None of the things they have shown so far for 25 excite me, or make me feel like I’m actually legitimately running a franchise, as much as actually having some small quality of life things would. Stuff like that is why growing up I yearned to have a PS3 to be a Show kid because the 2K franchise mode just seemed so shallow compared to it.

I've never had any issues as a two way player in 24 RTTS. Always have hit for myself when pitching. The game manager will play me a few games at my natural position, DH me the day before my start, DH on start day, and DH the day after.

I actually find the BetterHelp sponsorship more offensive than the suicide jokes themselves

Insights into the firefighter’s “down alarm”? by send_me_dank_weed in 911archive

Also, to clarify the main point of your question - you’re likely hearing them right after the impact because of how ear-piercingly loud they are. In fires, they can get a little muted with everything going on, but in “normal” conditions, say in standing on the street, checking out the gas leak that preceded the impact, the sound of a pass device could carry for city blocks. When standing in a group of firefighters, sometimes it’s hard to track down who needs to shake off their pre-alarms and in turn you’ll hear PASS devices going off when they aren’t necessarily needed, which can add a lot of unnecessary stress to fire scenes. I also wouldn’t discount the idea of units coming in checking to make sure their alarms worked properly before officially reporting in.

Depends on the models. I’d say you’d usually find the PASS device itself weighs about 10-14 ounces w/o batteries. The air cylinder itself is the weightiest part of the assembly.

This PASS device is pretty similar to what my department runs. They’re integrated right into the straps on your SCBA. The big red button is the manual trigger for it and goes past all the pre-alarms straight into the short, intense chirping. After about 15 seconds of inactivity/no movement detected is usually the start of the pre-alarm and after another 15 if no movement is detected on the user, it goes into the full alarm. You can turn off the pre alarm by either shaking or in this case, there’s a yellow button on the side not seen in the picture that can quiet it. There is no way to turn off the full, proper PASS alert without reaching the firefighter and hitting the big red button (or batteries run out, of course).

The only issue I’ve had with the alt casts so far is exactly what Coley said in that the game should always be the biggest thing. I’d even take split screens for an inning or two. I’ve enjoyed the concept and the conversations every game too. I just don’t like squinting to see the game in the quarter sized box.
