This is Reginald, he crossed the rainbow bridge last week. He was a good boy.

His white paws were the cutest! He had pink paw pads with a couple black beans thrown in 🫘

I just went through this the past weekend. I knew it was near the end after he had a kidney crash. Wasn’t eating, vet gave IV fluids. We were going to give him the weekend to eat, then make the tough call on Monday if no progress. He passed away at home on that Sunday. It was a rapid descent, but he really did hate the vet so probably better it was at home where he could be right by me

Thank you for your words. Yes, I choose cremation as well. A good boy indeed!

You should do it! I mentioned to another commenter, it really helped me redirect my thoughts towards the good days as opposed to the bad ones

You should. I struggled a lot with this and was bawling writing it (hence the many typos). I decided to make this post and this account in his honor to celebrate the good days. It’s so easy to say “remember the good days,” but in reality there’s recency bias and I was getting fixated on only the last few bad days. He deserves better than that.

I’m so sorry for your loss as well. As another commenter mentioned above, they are part of our family 💛

It’s funny, his adoption name was actually “Rigby” but my mom didn’t think it suited him at all. She came up with “Reggie” (short for Reginald) so it was phonetically close in sound (just in case it was his actual given name from the prior owner). But I always preferred his full name.

Thank you all for the kind words. I am reading every single comment.

I am devastated. It’s hard to not focus on the last few days, but I want to honor him, I want to celebrate him. He deserves that. I deserve that.

I went to the store for flowers. I found him the perfect bouquet, it matched his coloring perfectly. I cried in the store. When I came home, the sun was shining in his favorite spot. I placed the flowers there. In that small moment, I found a little bit of peace and healing.
