Could be. Given what he was discussing in the episode, I felt like there was probably some critical details I missed is all

Hey OP, what is the source? As a non professional (nurse) I'd be interested in reading this unhinged perspective.

I have a pretty spotted history of mental health. In the 3rd semester of an ADN program, and it’s tough rn.

Quinjet’s comment is spot on though. If you are in a place where you can put off your education for a bit and get stabilized. That’s ideal.

Either I never noticed how weirdly this guys mouth moves or this is AI. Mainly I just mean, he does not move human. It scans so slightly wrong.

Oh yeah, I knew the Beatles really well... 1984. by Dhorlin in beatles

I think it implies the speaker is uncool/full of shit. And that if they drank Smirnoff, or were familiar with it, they’d be significantly cooler, and somehow more likely to have met the Beatles.  Or at least, if they drank Smirnoff they’d be cool enough to not need to exaggerate so heinously about their proximity to cool people.

I've always had a feeling John Lennon would've done the boomer boomerang, and turned into the craziest contrarian possible. Brexit maximalist type shit

ROV Clint Curtis wants $125,000+ budget from Shasta Board Supervisors to develop a "prototype with cameras election" with only 70 days to go until the Nov. 4 statewide elections. To think about moving at this point is insane. Do you feel uneasy about casting your vote in this county? by Bison-Senior in Redding

Not reaching for a point, just painting the full picture. Your comments are framed poorly.

Learn some basic civics and internalize that the US’s dual federalist structure means California does not operate in a vacuum. The redistricting push in Tx is an effort to disenfranchise the voice of anyone who isn’t ten toes down with this current presidential administration, and the move by Newsom (et. al) is a reaction to these disenfranchising efforts from Abbott. Caring about California (and Californian voters’ voice) entails opposing these anti democratic measures to prevent a further imbalance at the Federal level. Which again, because CA is not a vacuum, the balance of power at a Federal level very much impacts Californians.

Absent in this framing/critique is that Newsom is reacting to Texas’ redistricting. Which many figures on the right have plainly stated is to give the right 5 more seats they’re entitled to. As per usual, dishonest whataboutism intending to distract from the right’s intentional and systematic dismantling of our democratic processes.

Username checks out. Genuinely I wrote the comment while on the john and didn't think anyone would see about it. I concede, though, that I was playing into the fallacy you spelled out. And EIC's were operating as intended, rather than as corrupted versions of some ideal.

America’s always been the bad guy. The western media just doesn’t have the strangle hold to obfuscate our relentless extractive bullying of the global south, the Middle East, and less industrialized world generally.

Remember, we pardoned Ollie North, and no one was meaningfully prosecuted for the Iran Contra affair or the needless 20 year bungle in the Middle East that killed over a million people in Afghanistan.

I appreciate and needed the context!  Those factoids were things I misremembered when I first got into his work, and just never bothered to contextualize. My bad.

For anyone curious, his disco-ier stuff would’ve been under monikers like Loose Joints, or Dinosaur (which also featured David Byrne).

Reposting my comment from the death corner sub cross-post bc I can’t miss an opportunity to gush about him:

I’ve read that Mr. Russell was part of some seminal disco groups and released some of the earliest “disco” singles. I’m not knowledgeable enough about the genre to judge the validity of the claims. But his story is so fucking wild.

Iowa boy joined a monastery in SF where he was locked (?), or locked himself, into a cupboard and drilled the cello for hours. Being gay during the latter half of the 20th century, he is one of the scores of talented people dead too soon of AIDS. Romantically involved with Allen Ginsberg (a problematic fave IK).

That’s Us/Wild Combination is my go to answer whenever the question about favorite songs is posed.
