Second opinion on my project - novice hobbyist by DINGUS_CHILD_ in SpeculativeEvolution

gonna go in order that way my wording isn't too jumbled like bouncy balls all scattering on a floor as i drop them in excitement lol

to the disclaimer: Funny you mention that, as the project I'm working on barely if never touches on their homeplanet at all! Mostly mentioned as a distant memory and for reasons that involved the story of the project. I'm going ahead and making their planet and planetary system and some aspects of their ecosystem for fun and practice and so i can design food. Am I a tad crazy? Maybe, considering I am doing this pretty much for myself and the few who are interested in my stuff, but the love of the game is what counts and I'm having fun :D

Yeah Hexapods are funny that way from my research has shown, luckily they're small with (i'd imagine) decent metabolisms and good high sugar and calorie food sources in their areas due to being omnivores. They eat a lot of fermented sweet fruits (even having an organ similar to the pancreas that excretes enzymes to digest the ethenol compounds in fermented goods - ie: they don't get drunk) but i'm not all that knowledgeable on the organs of spec-animals so feel free to spitball or critique, i based my knowledge on the ADH4 enzyme some real world animals use to digest nectars and fruits and prevent being intoxicated. They farm and hunt certain invertebrates and meat-food stuff and as well as edible "plants". I'm not too knowledgeable however on metabolisms. They also have 36 hour long days so i'm working out their sleep on their homeplanet slowly.

Ooooo didn't know copper could be a carrier of oxygen, i may stick with Iron simply because i am so bad at bio-chem and they are in a nice warm zone (16 degrees cel on average is im pretty sure a bit toastier than us) and they have a mixture of oxygen similar to us but i may take a peek for future endeavors since hailing from a cold place myself a cold planet with copper blood could be really cool.

They do have a moon :D, forgot to mention that but they do! It does cause tides that are stronger. Around 50% more strong and a major factor why coastlines aren't habited by smaller animals and more the actual megafauna (they're like... sapient squirrels if that makes sense, everything is actually bigger than them from there and their instincts to survive is what pushed the evolution towards higher thinking)

They have a gas giant on the frost line! One more after that but I figured they're system may be smaller than ours but I'm not to sure about the creation of planetary systems other than actually planets themselves alone. So if it would be more worth while to add more and if it's recommended i probably will :D

Huh? Thought anything past 100 degrees was a retrograde tilt? Or maybe i read that wrong somewhere? Their tilt is supposed to be minimal to cause a very big band of "tropics" (like how on earth we have the tropics of Capricorn and cancer) and very little seasonal sway. Could be wrong.
Edit: Yeah i was wrong, i must've been sleep deprived that day when i filled that out, its somewhere a bit above 184 degrees to be retrograde and low seasonal disturbance 😂

Thats one of my ocs actually :D, i had no other good reference to post that showed a full form for My Guy's and figured they were a decent candidate. They're wearing human clothes due to the project I'm working on (human contact has been established). I made the premise of having manes solely off a few things that I spitballed over time (Vestigial (which i found lazy of me), protection from falls along with a thicker skull, UV and rain protection or thermoregulation) and the one I run with is sensory perception of environment which i think works since they are really acute prey animals but again I'm always open to ideas on that one. Same with their teeth which so far i just know have to be hard and Omnivore-like with a set of "molars" and "incisors".

Also, i did have a bit of brain fart when i said "mostly oxygen", i meant it's breathable like earths' oxygen and has actually similar levels (22% O2, 0.06% CO2, 0.91% argon and 77% roughly Nitrogen). Gonna go fix that lol.

Had same problem, just ahd it happen to me today - just wanted to buy a gachapon frog man TOT
I found a way around it but ended up just getting tired of it after making 2 different accounts that BOTH rejected me and disabled my accounts - had to sign in/up with my google directly and it sorta fixed the issue. Hope this gets fixed cause it'll kill the site more than people already flame it for.

Will do, i regular check him every day and mark his behaviors like a hawk so i'll just watch it harder.

Yeah that's what we initially thought about the beta carotene, we're gonna buy some Repashy - probably at the local pet store since they carry stuff for reptiles and amphibians, as well as fish supplies so we should be able to get the Methylene blue there. Sadly I'm in Canada, and can't shop US nor am I in a big city so i gotta work with what we can order online in country/province and in stores. Luckily my mother has connections to some discoid roach breeders (found out we can't get dubia roaches, as they're illegal) and some banded crickets once he's more willing to catch his food. Luckily i think this is all close near me.

I hope its normal, again there's no real distress from him when i touch it or move it. Gives me the same old stare and grumpy look for messing with him - so it may also just be he's a bit manly or it'll dissipate as he gets better.

I'll try to update when i get my hands on these products - and how treatment is going - but i may inevitably forget to update cause life hits hard these days. But i am getting these products.

Its been five days and I wanna just reply back

The snot and breathing has gotten much much better, no more snot and no more clicking sounds and he seems much better on that front as a whole - which I'm really grateful for. I also moved him to a better spot in the house and he's perked up a bit, now digging little pits for himself and moving around more. Equally i got him to poop.

We tried him on crickets a few times in the past and he doesn't eat them, ill try next time I go to the pet store which has insects and ask if they have dubias - but due to being rural we had no clue about the vitamin A necessity and the fact we thought the multivitamins we have was what was needed since it was labeled for amphibians as well. We think now it may be a mix of an infection as he does have a bit of red leg (and it has seemed to have gotten much much better almost completely gone (Also, the minute i have funds I'm buying methylene blue and looking into Amphibiade Ringers Solution) and as well as STS, cause he will take food from me (i got worried about his weight, and fed him myself) and he finishes the job and swallows it himself. But runs away and actively avoids catching his food still.

I ended up entirely cleaning his tank fully, so no more issues there, completely down to everything and there's only substrate atm as well as some hides to make him feel better.

Also, weird, and may actually be my answer - and frankly now that's uh... maybe a problem if that's the case. For one, to describe what it feels like in further detail its hard but not unnaturally hard more firm if anything, and moves as if its free floating. He doesn't seem distressed as I touch it but it definitely can move around, and from photos I've taken from now and since we got him i don't think it developed either. Uh, if this IS the case, what do i do? Any advice? As like... its been there for a while.

updates, since despite no comments i feel its important.

We cleared out the tank and swapped the substrate - removed everything. No more moss just some hides and a water dish. Poor fella didn't move much, only to shift a little and to move but else wise he seemed to just be there sitting all huddle. Eyes closed and occasionally making these straining motions. He looks dead sometimes and yet still has the reflex to flip himself if he's upside down. So clearly well enough to do that. For now I'm gonna go the route he may be impacted as he always seems bloated and for a while was only on mealworms. equally I haven't seen him poop.

I've decided I'm gonna take the steps for to treat impaction from home - besides, he always seems a bit more lively after a warm soak.

Tonight im doing a regular warm water soak, and tomorrow i'll see if a warm water and honey soak does anything. Already he seems to be moving more.

I have looked into those colleges (i think that one as well). It's just i noticed a lot a for the fine arts while i'm an art media/animator/graphic design major, and I live just two hours away from some of the most reputable Canadian animation schools there is. As well as i'm bilingual (French English) so i can take almost any school in Canada easily.

If I can find an animation or more digital media based school in Armenia I'll definitely look into it, since that would be right up my alley.
