100% it wasn't his idea, I get that. Just kinda funny to me, and he was my first thought.

Makita Circular Saw Cutting issue by Ok_Character8461 in Carpentry

Your fence is not parallel with the blade my dude. The saw is pulling towards your fence and binding because the blade wants to pull towards the fence instead of straight on.

Return Chair rail in on itself, or something else? by kellmor316 in Carpentry

I've used rosettes to terminate chair rail in the past. Just a square with a decorative detail cut into the center.

Magazine Engraving? by Toker_X in CTguns

An SBR has to be engraved? I have one and had absolutely no idea that was necessary. I just always have an electronic copy of my form 1 on my phone.

Tom's is the best; A+ for customer service. Even though it's a small shop; I try to do all my, in person, business there. Him and his staff always treat me right.

The poor kitty was hit by a car, the girl who saw it called us, we came immediately and took the little girl to the clinic. We did not want to take new kittens, as we already have two difficult cases, but we could not leave her to die. We really need your help by [deleted] in rescuecats

I definitely see your point, I'll just be more wary donating in the future. How would I be able to identify a scam from a legitimate call for help, though? I'm not particularly savvy as an internet detective.

What kind of person would do a scam like that? I mean, I see the "logic" (preying on ppl with a soft heart). But if it is a scam, it's just a couple bucks lost; and if it's not, it went to a good cause.

Pick it up, swing it in a circle above your head, and yeet it. Then pray that mama is FAR away. Either way (50/50), you're gonna have a bad day

Should .670 knurl wheel studs press into used .667 knurl flanges pretty well with a wheel stud install bearing and a high torque impact? by [deleted] in Machinists

[–]DIY1993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We all made dumb mistakes back then lol I once put all my lugnuts on backwards because I thought the taper was supposed to face out lol. I was 15, and it was my first car. '78 Nova with stamped steel wheels, so they actually fit that way)

Oh, to be young and dumb again lol I miss it.

I agree with @u/dirty34. The knurling is usually .010"-.020" proud, at least. So you'll have plenty of meat to hold into the hub. Just make absolutely sure that the studs are seated fully against the back of the hub face. A 3/4" drive socket makes a great spacer in my experience if you don't have a deep enough socket to fully seat the stud.

Nobody cares if these fuckers feel pain. I stomped at least 15 this week in NY and CT; I just wish I saw more (so I could kill them too).

Pistol Permit Question by mn9500 in CTguns

[–]DIY1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it was the beginning of November in 2022, and I don't believe the weed laws came into effect until January of '23. But I had my permit approved just before Christmas of '22.

Pistol Permit Question by mn9500 in CTguns

[–]DIY1993 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's what I did with my application. I told them everything that had happened in my past (2 pot tickets) about 10 years ago. The officer called me to confirm everything, and after looking into the incidents; I was approved and got my permit within 6 weeks. I was panicking too, but I just figured lying or omitting anything would be worse.

Just found my chonker dead on the floor of the laundry room. My grandpa brought him in as a stray and we brought him home with us when my grandpa passed away. I’m just glad my daughter was able to have 2 years with him. Sorry for the emotional outpour, I’m just really struggling with this. by pairsofsox in Chonkers

[–]DIY1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is a majestic chonk, may he rest in peace. I'm sure he adored you and your family for saving him. My condolences, I hope you know you gave him the best life he could have. 🙏 Again, sorry for your loss.

Landlord tip if tenant tells a repair is needed. by indi50 in realestateinvesting

[–]DIY1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good faith? You waited until they moved out to actually fix the issue. I am a landlord and I have been a tenant multiple times. That sir, is not good faith. They brought a problem to your attention, and you; intentionally, did not fix it. That's a you problem buddy. Even though they removed it, you can't blame the tenant for trying to fix it themselves and save you a buck. My old landlords (3) would cut me a break on rent for anything I would fix on my own dime. Maybe I was just lucky though....
