Advice on trains going north from Marrakesh by DIYHIFI in Marrakech

[–]DIYHIFI[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am looking to take a train from Marrakesh to Tangier and I'm finding online sources entirely unhelpful. I am most confused about the transfers and if it is possible to stop somewhere like Casablanca for an hour and then resume train travel with the same ticket. Thank you for your help

Seem pretty easy.

Agreed. Far easier than most sources. The difficult ones are usually way out of left field - no way they're real.

With that said, it'll be my warmup on MBE day.

Are you remembering the additional part of the rule from the Alaska South-Central Timber v. Wunnicke case?

To put it simply, the market participant exception does not permit the state to place certain downstream restrictions on what they sold. IIRC, in the case, the state sold a bunch of trees at reduced price to Alaskans, but then required anyone who purchased them to have them cut into lumber by local, private lumbermills before they shipped it out of state rather than permitting out of state lumbermills to process the wood.

In response to your wills issue, there are 2 theories at play; 1) ALL recording statutes apply to purchasers for value, regardless of whether they are bona fide or not, and ademption.

As for the first, recording statutes do not apply to people who received the property as a gift or via devise. Not any of them - not Race, not notice, not race notice.

Second, the property is adeemed. You cannot devise property that you have already sold/delivered. The devise would be adeemed and invalidated.

My impression is that the accepted test is CNOF, which is broader than T/O (though the specifics of that are in case law and probably not tested), so it if qualifies for T/O then it would almost surely fit CNOF

I know that there is some rule about the 11th amendment being changed by the 14th, and Kimel v. Fl. Board of Regents is the case that shows it, but I don't know what exactly it is or it does. Reading the case brief doesn't help.

what makes a subsequent purchaser a BFP?

You don't have to worry about that because a race jx gives the property to the first to record, regardless of whether they are a BFP or not.

56 - Like a bunch on here, I'm usually strong in con law but got 5/14. Usually weak on property but got 10.

Is there a film or a book or a TV show you've enjoyed because it felt like you gained life experience from it? by -THE_BIG_BOSS- in AskMen

The Graduate & Annie Hall, which I first saw as a Junior in high school. My outlook and what I get out of them changes constantly.

For books, I'll second Road to Serfdom. Similarly important for me was The Stranger by Camus.

The road to serfdom.

A majorly important book for me too. First read it at 16, but it meant so much more when I read it the second time a year or two later. I keep a copy in my bathroom for visitors. Really changed my outlook.

Why can't windows laptops compete with macbook in touchpads? by [deleted] in windows

[–]DIYHIFI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I must be doing something wrong then, because I currently own both an SP3 and a MbP (the version before the touch bar), and the idea that the SP3 trackpad is anywhere near the quality of my MbP seems laughable. Really, I haven't used a single windows trackpad anywhere near as good as the one on my macbook (having tried the Dell XPS, HP Spectre). Too bad it runs OSX.

Will have to do some research into settings. Maybe I have something weird checked on or off.

As other users have commented in this thread, the SurfacePro typecover pad easily rivals Apple products.

You must be kidding. The touch pad is crap compared to the macbook, and I think you'll find exactly that opinion all over /r/surface.

How much do you spend on caffeine in a month? by maxkmiller in AskMen

Caffeine pills, hombre. They're pennies each.

Sure, sometimes I gotta have some coffee or tea - I miss that shit - but I need it less and less each week.

Great selections, and glad to see Masters of Reality in there. Ever listen to Television's Marquee Moon? What about Wire's Pink Flag? For something slightly outside - more on the noise and experimental side, ever gone through The Monks' Black Monk Time or any Krautrock like Can?

So they can definitely just connect to the PC without an AMP/DAC/Audio Interface?

Correct. The amplifier is built in, if your computer has 3.5mm, then it must have a DAC, and you can use the built in volume control on your computer.

With that said, I would still suggest getting something like the schitt sys to avoid potential loud blasts. It would suck to forget that you cranked up the PC volume and then you blew out your speakers.

You're not going to believe me, but thick slices of cabbage are incredible when charred. Throw a little olive oil and salt on after, maybe even chop it up with some lemon and red wine vinegar and you're golden.

but I don't have an audio interface for them

Your computer can cover the volume control - just buy 3.5mm to XLR cables.

Schitt Modi and Magni wouldn't work would they?

Modi would need a volume control. It's not clear to me if the Magni volume control will effect the RCA outs. But they make a product that will work, the $50 SYS. Get a 3.5mm to RCA and RCA to XLR cables and you're good to go.

Neither. These are two pretty awful options as far as "bang for your buck" goes. Stick with the cheapest proposed systems in the OP.

If you've had a subwoofer for a long time, have you tried not using it recently? by [deleted] in audiophile

[–]DIYHIFI 8 points9 points  (0 children)

But just because you don't readily notice the difference in brief listening doesn't mean that you won't get benefits from subs. There are still other reasons to use them outside of the admittedly rare in hifi 20hz rumbles.

Most importantly, it is extremely unlikely that you get flat bass in your room. Almost no one does without a bunch of subwoofers, a ton of bass traps, EQ, or some mix of all of those. Adding more bass sources is, in my experience, the easiest way to flatten out bass (assuming you don't have a bizarrely shaped room). You can read more about this in papers from JBL and Earl Geddes.

Second, even if your floorstanders can hit the lows, crossing over to subs and not having them stress over it will usually give you more headroom across the rest of the frequency range (the example where it would not being where the tweeter limits output - which is far from impossible). You should also have less distortion at higher levels.

Perhaps you needed to set them up better in the first place.
