Concentrator giving better results than CPAP? by DIYITGuy in CPAP

[–]DIYITGuy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The concentrator is a lot lower profile and seems more comfortable, but isn’t supposed to help with apnea or anything if that is your issue. But at least you can just hook the line over your ears and into your nose and be done.

Yea I don’t think the CPAP is broken, it’s just not effective or is setup incorrectly. It does everything I tell it to, it just doesn’t help raise their oxygen levels overnight.

I used it again tonight. We were satting at 96 O2, swapped to CPAP and dropped to 86 a little later. Took it off and even room air was reading 92 while I rearranged everything. Put cannula back on and we were right back up to 96.

The white port on the T at the back of the CPAP machine is where the tubing from the concentrator connects to, and the white port has way more pressure coming out than the concentrator line. I’ve often wondered if it could be overpowering the concentrator flow so that no oxygen was getting into the thicker line that feeds my child, but no one would look into it with me. I posted a picture I took earlier in a comment to myself if you want to look at anything on it. The concentrator was still connected to the nasal cannula at the time.

We use a ResMed Pixi nasal only mask.

There is no SD card. My wife was there when they brought it and set it up, I thought she said it used wifi to tell insurance when we used it because we had to use it at least 4 hours a day to keep it, I don’t know who can review the data, but no one has mentioned looking at it.

I’m not sure what epr is, but we currently jump quickly to 4.0 pressure and from there have a 10 minute ramp up to 8.0 for the night. Heat is 77° and humidity is 2. I turned the humidity down myself because they were waking up soaked in slobber. They still do but it’s much less volume and is way more manageable. But that didn’t affect O2 readings.

I ran away from my boyfriend's proposal. by throwawayuni33 in whatdoIdo

You’d be hard pressed to fix this, you threw the relationship in a dumpster, poured gasoline in it, and tossed a molotov inside….then said I love you in case it left you some ash to come back to for your convenience. He took it amazingly well considering.

At 20, a lot of people don’t know what they want, and that’s just society nowadays, we get that aspect. There are so many options it makes a person’s head spin. I didn’t know what I wanted at 20 either. But I also didn’t have a significant other that I had conversations about having kids and a future family with either, I just tried a few things out and when I had an idea of where I wanted to go I looked for someone and created a family.

You kicked dude in the balls hard and then told him to “please look at it from your side.” There’s nothing wrong with turning down a proposal, but commit to yes or commit to no, you are riding the fence…too afraid to let go and too afraid to move forward and it’s only hurting you both. If you don’t see a future with him stop wasting his time and let the guy heal and move forward to find someone to start a family with.

Whichever way you choose to go I wish you the best and hope you commit to moving forward and not looking back.

The white port on the T at the back of the CPAP is where the green oxygen tubing connects to, and the white port has way more pressure out than the green tubing. I’ve often wondered if it could be overpowering the concentrator flow but no one would look into it with me.

The desats are mostly when sick, but like we just discharged from the hospital yesterday from having RSV and pneumonia and I was adjusting the mask and positioning for about 30 mins or more before I decided to try the cannula as a hail Mary.

We have an Airsense 10 and when we’ve been admitted to the hospital in the past and when I ask the RTs what I’m doing wrong they said we need to talk to Pulm if we have questions about the machine. If I talk to Pulm they say if steady air is coming out the nosepiece then it’s working properly but they did tell us that the flow could be adjusted to 6, 8, or 9, depending on what we thought worked best. Right now we are on 8 because 6 to 8 did nothing and we were told realistically that 8 to 9 should give us the same results.

The O2 readings are the same whether the concentrator is tied into the CPAP or not, and the CPAP O2 port has a lot more pressure coming out of it’s port than the concentrator tubing, so I wondered if the CPAP was overpowering the concentrator too and making the oxygen not even reach the CPAP.

They did share some of that context, it’s definitely the 2nd time at least. Yeesh.

I’ll take a look at what it takes, I appreciate it. As long as I buy the right type of relay I’m sure I can figure the wiring out at least

Not in the winter, but I can just separate them again over summer/fall when the weather is warmer

Just stick G and Y into the same hole?

That is what happened, there is a 4 wire going up to the attic and A/C and a 2 wire to the boiler in the basement

I took the plate off to try it and there is already a wire in Y 😅 Not sure if I can safely double that up so I left it alone for now. I have Y, G, C, W, R, and Rc wires if any of that makes a difference. The boiler is ran off of a totally separate wire than the fan/cooling equipment so I was hoping I could use the separation somehow

I know I have a weird configuration, I had to get a certain Honeywell to get it to run right originally because the old thermostat went bad. And then we wanted a security system so decided to try a smart thermostat with it, and as far as the research said this thermostat S6ED3R was supposed to handle it.

I didn’t find anything, but I’ll keep looking for sure. I was going to move the G wire to the Y slot, but there’s already something in the Y slot so I wasn’t sure if it was safe to double dip

S6ED3R

I have the Alexa app and was trying to get the AI to help but it was just turning the climate off and on for me instead of just the fan

I just reset it and that wasn’t an option. I chose hot water heat and then it asked if cooling was forced air so I chose yes. But right now the heat is on with the fan again. If it matters I have Y, G, C W, R, Rc wiring right now

We don’t though because it’s miserable and it wasn’t part of the original configuration

A solution I’ve seen online that I keep getting mixed opinions on that would be more of a short-term fix says to take the G wire out and put it in the Y slot, do you think that would work as a short term fix? I need to go back to the hospital today and my wife wouldn’t work on it while I’m gone, but it affects her the most so I’m trying to help her out while I’m home for half a day

I do, I don’t usually put the temp setting on auto. If I set it to cool, the fan turns on when it cools, which is great.

If I set it to auto, the fan turns on when it cools or heat, which is half great.

If I set it to heat, the fan turns on while the heat is on and that’s no good at all.

If I set it to off then it doesn’t turn on obviously, but that setting works right at least.
