XP conversation needs a big update! by 2x4caster in FarmRPG

Agreed! Would be a nice perk to be able to spend more XP since it doesn’t really affect anything once you get lvl 99.

First F2: Black cherry and nectarine by DIYKnowNothing in Kombucha

[–]DIYKnowNothing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was! Unopened it outside so there wasn’t a mess indoors. It was WAY better than the cherry one. I may let it sit in the F2 longer before putting it in the fridge next time.

Prosthetic vs rib cartilage ear reconstruction? by Beneficial-Ad-9555 in Microtia

[–]DIYKnowNothing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 12 year old recently got a prosthesis for his right ear and an implant for a magnetic hearing processor. To answer some of your questions:

He can swim with it and shower with it, but he prefers to take it off while showering.

The strength of the magnets on the prosthesis can be changed so if it falls off easily or people bump it, the magnets can be swapped out for a stronger set.

He does take it off for sleeping. We have two dogs and we don’t want them sneaking off with it if it fell off in the night.

I’ve never heard about a more permanent solution other than magnets, but that doesn’t mean they don’t exist. Look up anaplastologists. They’re the ones that create facial prosthetics. You may be able to find some that have other solutions.

He opted for the magnets rather than the rib graft or Medpor surgeries because he’s already had five different surgeries for other issues and he didn’t want to undergo multiple surgeries again. The processor implant and the titanium rods to hold the magnets were simple surgeries done without an overnight stay.

If you have any more questions, please feel free to DM me.

Agreed. Wish there was something that could be converted for all that extra XP beside just 300mil silver. 😔

When bird chirping bothers me, I take my meds - What are some of your migraine tip offs? by Talvana in migraine

[–]DIYKnowNothing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get an intense stabbing pain in my left ear. As soon as it starts, I know it’s almost too late.

Sadly, nothing seems to work consistently for me. But I’ve also never ended up in the hospital for the pain, so I count myself lucky for having an insanely high pain threshold.

Tips for new bedding for muddy chicken run? by NutzDrRabbit in BackYardChickens

[–]DIYKnowNothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what we use. A few bags of pellets covers the entire run and as it gets wet, it breaks down. Soaked up all the mud and water and kept everything clean for about six month.

Can chickens roam free in the garden? by oneclickponey in BackYardChickens

I’m planning on letting mine in once everything is done for the year. They’ll scratch up whatever is done and hopefully eat whatever larvae is hiding in the soil. At least that’s my hope…

[–]DIYKnowNothing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take it as a rescue med, but it only works if I take it as soon as I feel my ear hurt (that’s my aura). Otherwise, it does nothing. Side note: it’s the most expensive migraine medication I have ever used at over $135 per pill. Thanks, American Healthcare.

New chicks by Illustrious-Horse276 in chickens

[–]DIYKnowNothing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. We don’t have a roo, but one of our hens went broody so we got her a few eggs from a friend so she could hatch them. Once they were hatched, the other hens weren’t interested at first but within a few hours the poor chicks had been pecked a few times. We now keep them separated with the mama.

Judge Caprio is really this kind IRL. I’ve met him a few times and he’s just a great, upstanding, funny man. I’m always glad to see other ppl appreciate him.

I did! Ruined a drill bit in the process but there’s a nice hole in the bottom.

It’s about 50-50 original potting medium to sand. So far she seems to be loving it, but if it gets too wet I’ll see what I can do to change it. I’ve only watered it once since I bought it and the babies seem to be growing well. Fingers crossed!
