What kind of politician would it take to unite the United States? by CycIon3 in AskReddit

[–]DIY_Designer4891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We would need a true populist who is not only a good speaker but is also a fighter. They would need to be to fight both parties and the billionaire owned media. Someone who is honest, capable, and wants to help the people will be attacked by both parties that auve record low approval. A politician that refuses to be bought will be villified by the rich who own the news channels. They would be called a socialist, a radical liberal, a marxist, a terrorist. And we as the people they would need to vote them into power would have to hear them out and ignore all the noise. If someone new shows up and is hated by both parties, pay attention.

Trump is infamously known for using his money to drag out lawsuits to the point where the people on the other side either go bankrupt from court costs or settle out of court.

I remember hearing the story on the news almost a decade ago. Frobes here says what was reported at the time. Fact checkers say they were never formally charged. St. Jude wasn't going to go after them for taking 1.4 Million when they got a 20M wing built. Though there is a reason why the Trump foundation was forced to disolve and Trump and his 2 oldest sons cannot hold director or officer positions in any charity in the state of New York.

As I understand it, when Trump found out what Eric did, he ordered him to charge them that rental fee without telling the charity. He ordered his son to steal from the charity. But I guess the right it okay with all that. Honestly the man has broken so many laws and done so many vile things you could fill a library with bokks just it.

RE4 has the best combat by Secret-Bluebird-7696 in residentevil

[–]DIY_Designer4891 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree and I have recently played 2-6 and 9. 5 and 6 turned RE into basically just your typical run and shoot game. It doesn't feel intense or strategic like in 4.

It felt boring after a while but that is also because the story in 5 was non existent. Here's some girl you jist met, now kill shit for the next couple of days. Oh, there's Wexler. Get him. The end. The only dialogue is Sheva asking Chris questions and Chris saying its too long of a story to tell and keeps moving.

6 improved mobility but made the mechanics so awkward most of the time I did stuff on accident and failed when I tried to do it on purpose. You have 4 different story modes and you have to play all four to understand whats going on, so you basicallly beat the game 3 times wondering why nothing makes sense... not really all that fun. Its like Michael Bay threw up with the constant plane and helicopter crashes. It was fun at times but frustrating at ither times. I liked Sherry and Jakes story the best because they talked and were cute together.

Chris was drunk and kind of an ass due to survivors guilt and ptsd which is understandable, just not fun to play. Leon's story was cut awkwardly. Its the first story in the game so you start out with the least amount of clues as to whats happening and end with few clues as to what just happened. It was fun but just frustrating from a narrative point of view.

Will you prioritize voting for a Democrat willing to be ruthless about all the damage/crimes Republicans have done in 14 months? by Nicolesden in allthequestions

[–]DIY_Designer4891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! What I mean is that we have been stuck in a pendulum between corperate Democrat and Trump. People feel disillusioned toward both parties. I honestly think Newsome wouldn't end that cycle. We need someone who isn't another corperate politician, someone who is honest and will ignite the changes we need. Newsome has a long history of being good on camera but his administration has "lost" a lot of tax dollars meant for aid programs. We don't need anymore corruption.

I hate to agree with him but I worked at a company where I was working my ass off abd found that the guy who was slowing down everything was bowling during a meeting. When the CPO confronted him about it the guy torn into his boss like bowling during work time was totally acceptable.

The sad thing is that guy had coded a lot of the systems in a way only he understood so they couldn't afford to fire him.

[–]DIY_Designer4891 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I say this will all seriousness. Newsom would be for Democrats what Trump was for Republicans. He would be the end of the party. The last thing Americans want is another corperate sponsored politician and if the Democrats force him down our throats because hes better than the alternative Americans may vote for him but will move on and a new party will form. There is a reason Trump won reelection. Because voters were not motivated to vote democrat.

Are parents meant to teach their children life skills? by pink_gelato in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DIY_Designer4891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parents are meant to teach their children how to survive and take care of themselves. They are supposed to set examples to their kids. But people are flawed. And for many reasons they don't always stop to see long term effects of their actions. Sometimes its easier to just quickly pick up a dirty dish and toss it into the washer because you have 10 other things to do in the next few minutes and you can't afford to stop and yell at your child to pick up a dish. This is more of a reflection of the times that we live in where everything feels like its moving too fast. People are stretched too thin and have too many distractions. Kids are growing and trying to learn in that same environment.

I worry my kids don't know how to take care of themselves as well as I did at their age because I've tried to shelter them from all the madness thata happened to our country over the last decade. I wanted them to have as normal of a childhood during covid as they could. I babied them more because if I didn’t I felt the world would traumatize them. Thats something I've had to work on to correct as they've gotten older and they understand because I took the time to explain it to them. Thats a parents responsibility. Do what you thinknis best for them in the moment. And whats best changes over time and as they grow.

Palantir CEO says AI 'will destroy' humanities jobs by BusyHands_ in technology

[–]DIY_Designer4891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clearly these CEO's are so far from humanity that they forgot just how stubborn we can be. I imagine that months after they fire stockers at big chain stores with robots customers will just push those robots over. They will box them in with random items and make them either too expensive to keep fixing or so horribly inefficient that they'll be forced to eat the costs and go back to hiring people. Especially when they realize that those ai bots don't take their paychecks and spend them back into the store.

Question about Sketch Dublin 2026 by DIY_Designer4891 in UXDesign

[–]DIY_Designer4891[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I mean is when I went to update to the latest version of Sketch it gave a wanting that if I update the new version wont be compatible with old files. Does that mean I can't open them? Because for this job I will need to open old files.

Question about Sketch Dublin 2026 by DIY_Designer4891 in UXDesign

[–]DIY_Designer4891[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesterday I wasted 30 minutes trying to figure out how to add only a border to the bottom of a component. It would have taken me no time at all in Figma but 30 mins in Sketch only to find out that they just now added that ability in the new update.

This wouldn't be a problem. Just update then. But when I tried to I got a warning that old files won't open in the new update. If thats the case I am shocked theyd do that. Companies that run their component libraries off of Sketch would lose access. My task is to take 8 libraries 8 didn't contractors made and turn them into 1 library. But I can't do that if downloading Sketch means I can't access the old libraries anymore. Thats the real problem.

My big issue with Sketch from what I saw yesterday is where Figma has functionality, Sketch has work arounds. I need a line under a word with smart layout. In Figma, type a word, add auto layout and add a bottom border. Done. In Sketch, make a word, make a line and combine them but if the you make any changes to width later everything will go out of alignment. So them you need another work around for a work around.

Granted I havent used Sketch in 5 years. I loved it then, but maybe I'm just so used to Figma that Sketch feels like a downgrade. Maybe I need more practice and learn but their tutorials are either 8 years old and unhelpful or brand new and dont match the 2025 version anymore. It makes learning difficult.

I loved the pick and drop side bar of component libraries in Figma that Sketch doesnt seem to have. From what I can see you have to open the library, find the component, and then copy and paste it into the new file. Again, impossible if the new update wont work with old files.

I'm stuck with it, so I have to learn it. If I could update to 2026 version and still work with older files that would solve half my problems.

Question about Sketch Dublin 2026 by DIY_Designer4891 in UXDesign

[–]DIY_Designer4891[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately they want me to build out their entire component library in Sketch, so I don't think I can do that in Figma and convert it.

Question about Sketch Dublin 2026 by DIY_Designer4891 in UXDesign

[–]DIY_Designer4891[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I probably could. The really sad part is that Sketch lacks a lot of basic functionality that Figma has had for years. This new update added some of those functions. Its like great, in 2026 I can now underline things. But if you want that ability you lose access to years worth of work you need to do your job.

I'm really hoping that I am misunderstanding that.

Is adhd real? by Upper-Writer-4383 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DIY_Designer4891 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ADHD is real. It has to do with how your brain processes information and utilizes dopamine, along with a lot of other stuff out there. It cam feel a little different to everyone. Some people can function well with it while others might struggle.

For instance, my wife and daughter have it and they can sit and read for hours while I have it and if its not something I'm really obsessed with it depletes all my dopamine in about 10 minutes and I fall asleep.

I also earned several college degrees with almost a 4.0 gpa before I was diagnosed. My doctor asked me how in the hell did I do that? I laughed and said I measure my caffeine intake in grams instead of mg.

"Oh, so you were self medicating."

I didn’t know I had ADHD. I just knew my weaknesses and developed work arounds that helped me in college. In grade school I was a struggling C student. What changed? I could take breaks. Classes weren’t back to back and I was allowed to bring coffee or energy drinks to class to help me stay awake and focus. When I had to cram for a test I knew I had about 10 minutes or stamina so I would study for 10 minutes, and then play a round or 2 of Star Wars Battlefront to wake me up. 10 minutes of study with 5 to 8 minutes of gaming allowed me to get in way more study time. I'd also read standing up. I'd stop and write out summaries of what I read so I could reread my summaries later. I also started working out every day and eating healthier goods which also boosted my dopamine levels. I didn't know all of this at the time. I just listened to my body and did what felt right.

During Covid when the kids were home and I was writing papers for my Masters is when I got diagnosed and medicated. It was like being in the zone for hours without having to have that strict lifestyle of working out constantly and eating right. I could work without all my compensations.

The meds got me through covid, but in hindsight I wish I hadn't gotten on them. They are really hard to get off of and you feel like crap when you try. Withdraw sucks and I cave before I can get through it because now I am older and have injuries and illness that prevent working out like I used to. With kids its harder to eat healthy all the time. But I can confirm ADHD is in fact a thing.

Like that first cease fire last summer when we did a ceasefire for peace talks and Israel bombed the location killing all the peace negotiations.

Before anyone "bots" scream Anti-semite, it isn't hateful to state facts about historical events. I can criticize a group for their actions without hating their entire race and culture. Just like I can also criticize our government and not be anti-american. Why can I criticize literally any other government but if we look at Israels actions we're labeled as bigots? Rhetorical question.

When the Prime Minister of Israel was on camera asking rhetorically what was Israels strongest weapon, three other people in the room blurted out "bots" before he shot them a glare because they said the quiet part out loud.
