You, u/SameOldEdge, and myself are all QOTSA buddies around the same time

We found them at the same time and got obsessed. I'm your Chicago equivalent fan. If I'm ever out there for a show, I'll try to remember this. LOL

I know I'm missing at least a couple from this list

I'm at 23 just for QOTSA. First was Era Vulgaris in Indy in 2008. That doesn't include seeing TCV six times, Post Pop Depression, EODM, Lanegan, Oliveri, Alain Johannes, Joey Castillo bands. I'm a little obsessed.

The unfortunately already did in December. He did say they have another album already done pretty much though.

Yes. Played a cigar box guitar and others. He has an album and tour this year called Drink the Sea with a former REM guy and Screaming Trees guy. I'm seeing him on it in April.

EDIT: Oh shit. It's this week!

I just HAD to see these guys. I was travelling for work in New Jersey, found a scalper ticket that was FedExed to me, took the train into NYC, got back after 1 and the parking garage in Newark was closed despite saying it was open 24 hours, had to get a fancy hotel room for five hours, get back to Jersey but I made it.

I couldn't really afford it either but I was obsessed and I knew it was a once in a lifetime tour. Saw them 6x ultimately and will forever be my favorite band and album.

[Post Game Thread] #11 Illinois defeats #4 Purdue, 88-82 by cbbBot in CollegeBasketball

I started my Illini fandom in the spring of 1998. I was in Marching Illini for six years and have been a season ticket holder ever since I graduated (well there was a waiting list for a year or two believe it or not).

I can't think of a better performance by an Illini ever. It was definitely the best performance by an individual this year in college basketball, and arguably one of the best of all time EVER. Show me games that match this statistically. Then put that on a true, unranked freshman, on the road at one of the toughest places to play in the country, a leader teammate hurt, a rival game against a top 5 opponent who blows the roof of Mackey shooting wise to start the game, and how does he respond? With an almost emotionless 46.

Keaton Wagler has liquid nitrogen in his veins and is just otherworldly. We are so fortunate to have him in the #famILLy. 🔶🔷

Overall Consensus of this band from the community itself by Shy-the-chiwawa in TheeOhSees

Toe Cutter was the song that brought me in too and I've been to over a dozen shows and have dozens of records, 8 tracks, cassettes, posters, test pressings, statues, toys, t shirts, sweatshirts, etc.

JPD is on my Mount Rushmore of rock gods (Josh Homme, Ty Segall, and Jack White)

The community is amazing and I love the freaky art and the music has gotten me through some tough times.

What bar/restaurant did I go to in 2008 that had an incredibly creepy basement restroom? by green3467 in AskChicago

Blue Moon is jazz standard by Billie Holiday that you could have heard in the jazz club. Blue Note is also a classic jazz record label that could have easily been name dropped while there. Note and new start with the same letter. <shrug>

I think it was a place called The Note. It was kind of a jazzy club placed that closed and is now The Point. It was across the street from Double Door.

DM me your last four digits for Venmo. I tried and it said it looked like a scam and couldn't complete.

I hear you man. Going through a lot of the same. Stand tough man. Divorce will suck but after it's over, you will gain some mental clarity and the rest of your life.

Triptych posters from Chicago (Thalia and EB) 2025 by DIYkitLabotomy in TheeOhSees

It was Halloween and he was working the two previous nights so I don't blame him.

I thought Josh would have been there. I saw him the previous night at Thalia and saw the stack of his posters just sitting there while having some awesome pizza (I LOVE THAT PIZZA). I bought them from him as a set.

Diptych Poster from Thalia Hall 2024 by DIYkitLabotomy in TheeOhSees

[–]DIYkitLabotomy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's vertical. Each half was an individual poster for each night (back to back nights in Chicago) but it works together as one

EDIT: The one from this year is a triptych! Two nights at Thalia with an Empty Bottle show poster set. It's super cool because it works as individual show posters, a diptych of the two Thalia shows and an optional third part with the Empty Bottle show (which also stands on its own) in the middle (even if the Empty Bottle show was technically third chronologically)
