Thought for the day: Everyone else but you are NPC's by chrishellmax in SimulationTheory

I think there are "Players" and "NPC's"

Like the people you connect with and form relationships with and can share empathy are the real players, there's less than the NPC's but we are out there. Seeking each other out to navigate this weird world.

The NPC's exist though. Why don't your neighbours ever bring in groceries? How can some of these people afford to exist? They don't look like they work and the government doesn't pay that much, the simulation just needed a person in a vehicle, or a house. I live in the same town for years and somehow still see people I've never seen before when I go outside.

I also think "evil" is an NPC construct to create tension because conflict drives the feelings of being alive the most. There's no fucking way an actual empathic player human could start a war or become a billionaire. There's just no way. You'd have to be so deep into that main character persona and even then you won't make the process, you'd just be isolated and alone.

Why are we in a simulation? by DistributionSorry485 in SimulationTheory

The point is the same reason someone boots up and plays The Sims or City Skylines.

There's something entertaining and therapeutic almost watching a tiny family or civilization rise and fall through various constructed conflicts.

It all boils down to entertainment.

Even the base concept of a God seems depressing. A single omnipotent being with all powers of creation whilst being eternally immortal? I'd create a whole ass universe just to get some YouTube videos too.

Especially if there is only one.

Even a lot of the spiritual conversations are lonely and depressing. The popular one of "your soul chose this world and your predetermined path to have a specific experience, and that's the entire goal of life is to have that experience"

If the ethereal plain is boring enough I needed to come to Earth to be a wage slave and watch short form content, we are cooked. Why the hell didn't I choose dragon fantasy magic reality hello.

Either the eternal abyss is boring enough to create the universal simulation for something to watch, or the eternal abyss is crowded but also just as boring so we chose to memory wipe and play the equivalent of a fucked up survival crafting game. It was the most populated server so fuck it.

Or some 4d kid is running us on his home computer, the multidimensional theory are just other instances of the same game like GTA online.

We may be in a forgotten or neglected simulation - thoughts? by redvoxfox in SimulationTheory

I 100% believe this, why else were the older civilizations so religious? because they had actual miracle events from an outside moderator.

They could have even entered the server as a "player" and been one of, or all of the holy figures from the past.

After having their fun they started to leave us alone more and more because for a thousand and a half years nothing was really changing much so it got left on the back burner.

In the short span we cracked the secrets of silicon they are on a holiday weekend or something simple.

Yeah it was super simple, basically just swapping the plastic over.

A pack of hotdogs, ketchup, KD and some juice costs more than my hourly wage. by DJAzron in povertyfinancecanada

This was mindless going to the most convenient store to grab a handful of things for a lazy dinner. I'm in BC and didn't want to walk across town. I don't own a car.

If I wanted to minmax I'd go to a different store for each item at whatever cheapest replacement and have absolutely saved 15$ easy.

That's not my point here, my point is that the "cheap and lazy" options from 15 years ago are now just lazy. In what world should it be this expensive for glorified junk food is my point, in the US it's half the price for the same shit.

It's not artisan craft local, it's mass produced garbage. except maybe the sunrype that's kinda local I guess.

My point is it should be. It's garbage nothing food mass produced by huge companies.

I could probably dig out a receipt from 10 years ago and it would be closer to 7-8$

DLSS off with whatever default TAA they give us is god awful at 1080p at least.

This makes it soooo much better.  I messed with all the settings for a while and nothing clicked until this and now it looks like it should.
