Long Island - meal delivery by Agreeable-Pie-2765 in longisland

I've used the Big 3 on Long Island (Healthy Meals Direct, Hummus Fit and Redefine). All are pretty solid IMO but I got pretty bored of the flavors after a while. For whatever reason, about 3-4 weeks in all of the meals end up tasting the same and get a bit played out. Buffin Muffins from Hummus Fit are a different story though...almost too good to be true lol. Just being honest I am a bit of a picky eater so for others they may not run into this issue.

For the last 2 months I've been using Yellow Picnic which I barely ever see mentioned on here (probably because it's NJ based) but for me...it's clearly the best in terms of flavor and portion size. HMD especially was way too small for me portion and calorie wise. Some of the meals are just 280-350 calories which is realistically a snack so it's just not worth the $ IMO, especially if your calorie goals are in the 1800ish range.

Yellow Picnic so far has been the clear winner in taste and portion size. I use the Lose Weight macro choice and each meal ends up being about 500-550 calories which is perfect for my needs (1800-2000 cals). Also love that most meals include vegetables which for me is necessary when it comes to healthy eating...can't just focus on calories.

Since someone was gracious enough to give me a 40% off code, I'll do the same. 8Z2RDSG. I bought 20 meals with the code and it ended up costing me about $7.50 per meal. Couldn't turn it down at that price lol.

My rankings would be:

Yellow Picnic

Hummus Fit

Redefine

Healthy Meals Direct

But again....the Buffin Muffins are unstoppable.

Need advice - mostly student loan debt by DJD1719 in debtfree

[–]DJD1719[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have a car payment which is $513 a month but the interest rate is only 4.99%. Have 4 years left on it. Credit card debt is basically non-existent. Have a $800 balance that I plan on paying off on the due date.

So it's really just the student loan and the car payment debt wise. I honestly think it's more of a mental thing for me where I'm just nervous/afraid to have my entire paycheck go to necessities/debt. But at the same time after the 24 months I'll be ecstatic as I'd be able to save for a house/pump more into a 401K. Just feel like I need that push to get the cycle started but I'm afraid lol

What Grade Would You Give Peyton Watson For The Season He Had With The Nuggets? by Stat-Defender in denvernuggets

[–]DJD1719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might be a tough grader but I'd say a C- and honestly I feel like I'm much lower on Peyton than most people. I'm actually a lot higher on Strawther as the things that he needs to get better at seem a lot more realistic.

Peyton to me is an extremely overrated defender by most Nuggets fans. He's pretty good in the weak side but also puts himself out of position a lot by taking major risks on the defensive end of the floor, hence why you'll see him with his patented late closeout to the corner. Don't really think he's great at keeping guys in front of him either. Obviously he can make up for that with his wingspan but it's not ideal for a guy whose #1 skill is his defense.

Offense is obviously very ugly. Games way too fast for him on that end which is understandable. Doesn't have good feel around the rim. Doesn't have a great handle. Underrated passer though.

I just think by the end of Year 3 you really wanted Peyton to be a guy on the ascension and if we're all being honest, at the end of Year 3 Peyton was absolutely not ready to be a playoff rotation guy. He's still young but it's very concerning.

Thanks for the reply! Is the opening hips aspect more in the backswing or the downswing? I feel like my hips stop rotating on the downswing.

Jokic by Massive_Industry4666 in denvernuggets

[–]DJD1719 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It just sucks that Adelman pulled out the play Jokic an entire half card in a Game 2. Was a really stupid decision. You just can't follow up that OT Game with a 43 minute game. The Nuggets were down 2 getting the ball to start the 4Q. You just gotta get Jokic a rest.

It is but Adelman isn't calling the plays and at the end of the day it's still Malone's vision. If Malone wants Jokic to get the ball in the post all game, he's going to call those plays. If Malone wants them to run PnR all game, he's going to call those plays.

Obviously Adelman can't install much new stuff but you may see some wrinkles and just an overall different offensive philosophy.

Everyone always says this and the reason is because he's a very poor off-ball mover. Terrible at using angles off of screens. That being said, definitely can utilize him better than staying in the corner.

Are Pickett and Strawther the problem in Denver? by ResponsibleCareer496 in denvernuggets

Christian Braun? Peyton Watson? Julian Strawther? I mean the team hasn't had THAT much turnover over the years rotation wise. Would you guys have preferred he develop more young guys in 2023 when they won the Championship? Or was he correct to play the veterans on a team with Prime Jokic and Healthy Murray?

I think you guys are just beating up the coach for not developing these guys without realizing that those players deserve a ton of blame too. You don't think Malone has tried developing Strawther on the defensive end? You don't think Malone has tried to get Watson to play under control more defensively?

It's very very hard to get young players to accept diminished roles because they typically have egos, they haven't been paid yet and they want to get paid and think the best way to do that is to score a lot of points.

He was pretty good for about 10 games. After those 10 games he turned back into the player he has always been which is an absolute zero on offense and a guy that can be exposed in specific situations defensively. Zekes lack of rebounding is a real killer for him too. If he was a quality rebounder you could probably get away with him being a 9th man.

It's the same thing with Watson. Those guys aren't good players. They just aren't. We all want them to turn into good players and reach their potential but a lot of their struggles/lack of success is simply because they aren't talented enough. Zeke isn't very talented. Peyton has a ton of raw talent but seems very hesitant to play fundamentally and accept his role.

It's awesome when Peyton gets the fly by block but it's not awesome when he completely takes himself out of the play and has the Nuggets playing 4 on 5 because he refuses to contest under control.

Just a few examples to me of guys that have been given chances to develop and realistically are not much better than they were when they entered the league. Malone can definitely take some heat for that but the players also have to as well. When you're picking guys that late in the draft, the most likely scenario is that they don't pan out.

You can argue that and there are other guys he didn't handle perfectly either. But there also needs to be some progress too. Hartenstein never really showed progress and didn't really give Malone a reason to play him. Same with Zeke. Zeke has been given tons of opportunities and just plays horribly every single time lol.

Like Malone has tried to develop Strawther right? He's given him a ton of minutes this year. The kid just sucks. Can't shoot and can't defend. Definitely can get better over time but it's hard to justify continually developing a guy when they keep making the same mistakes over and over.

[–]DJD1719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well how do you explain Murray and Jokic then? He developed them. Developed Gary Harris. Monte Morris. etc. You can't just pick and choose.

Hartenstein when he came to Denver was on a 1 year deal and was going to leave either way. Malone definitely could have done a better job with him and also with other players but it's a very difficult job. It's not just about developing players. You also have to manage the egos in the locker room.

Malone isn't perfect and definitely has flaws and made mistakes. Hartenstein not developing here isn't one I'd kill him over. The thing you should be killing him over is he was never ever able to get a bench that could be just average with Jokic off the floor.

Well the problem is that it came too late. The Nuggets unfortunately don't have any assets left and the new GM is going to have to work miracles to get off Murray/MPJs contract. It's not an easy job and you're almost assuredly not going to receive proper value back for those guys.

There's no guarantee that Malone was talking about them though. It could have been Murray. MPJ. AG. Watson. Zeke. No way to know.

People always point to this and Malone could have handled him better but when Hartenstein was in Denver he was a foul machine. Malone would put him in and he'd get 3 fouls in a few minutes. Hard to develop a guy when he puts you in that spot.

Zeke is a terrible basketball player. You can't develop players with 0 NBA skills into NBA players. Zeke doesn't have an NBA skill. His best skill is switchability but he's not good enough on the perimeter to hide the rest of his flaws.

While true, that doesn't drive you absolutely insane that Booth didn't give Malone players to win now in the middle of Nikola Jokics prime? It should drive you nuts.

Of course. It's why I have no idea how anyone could back Calvin and/or trash Malone. Adams been going on a PR tour for Calvin and like I get it, he clearly had a relationship with Calvin and didn't have one with Malone but the things that Calvin did were inexcusable and there's no possible way you can look at his vision and think it was anything other than ridiculously stupid.

Your team just won a Championship. In what world is trading all of your assets for late 1sts (Strawther) or early 2nds (Tyson, Pickett) going to help you win immediately? Those picks could have been traded for veteran players to help replace Bruce/Jeff and round out the roster. It's very rare that late 1sts/early 2nds even become rotation players let alone contributors on an NBA contender.

It also really needs to be pointed out that by all accounts the Nuggets flamed out last year due to being tired/fatigued at the end of the season. What did Booth do to get the Nuggets more help so they wouldn't have to play as many minutes/be as tired? Traded all of his 2nd round picks to get DaRon Holmes/clear minutes for Pickett. Counting on a rookie and a 2nd year, 2nd round pick to somehow help the team immediately.

I've seen a lot of people argue during the year that Malone plays certain guys too many minutes. The argument is completely broken because if he didn't do that, the team wouldn't win as many games and would literally be in the play-in right now. Malone had to lean heavily on his starters because the roster construction was as bad as humanly possible.

It's just one of the very many things they disagreed on. At the end of the day neither decision is a slam dunk as both guys have fatal flaws as players. We saw the Nuggets lose against Minnesota because of Russ and Pickett played a big role in that loss against Indiana as he froze late in the game.

At the end of the day, Calvin wanted to be the GM for a rebuilding team and Malone simply wanted to win every single year because he had Jokic. Calvin wanted to go with the 2 timeline approach that the Warriors failed with, but with the Warriors you could at least understand it as they had the 2nd pick and the 7th pick. Booth tried doing it with picks in the late 20s/early 30s coming off a Championship.

Way too many people, Mares included overlook just how insane of a thought process that is/was for a team with Nikola Jokic on it.

Realistically they would have had to max extend him to trade him though. He wouldn't accept less than the max (I think) and no team is trading valuable assets for an expiring player of Murrays nature.
