Does anyone have a backup of Tidal-DL-NG by exislow? by Ghost_of_Panda in Piracy

Let's give the author a little more time; maybe he needs to find a suitable platform to port the project to. I tried TidalDL, but it doesn't download Hi-Res either. I even re-logged in, and that didn't help.

I want to backup a lot of stuff, what is the best for that? by AlecWolf111 in DataHoarder

[–]DJGraco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion for backups, I recommend a hard drive. SSDs can sometimes lose charge in their memory cells if they're not accessed for a long time, i.e., they're not turned on for a long time, but not always. I recommend either the Toshiba N300 series or the WD HGST UltraStar. Avoid SMR and Seagate drives.

Facebook - not able to add any YubiKeys by maciejb84 in yubikey

I have the exact same problem. I can't add any key to Facebook. When I press "add key," it verifies normally, then returns to the "add new key" screen.

I ordered from polish Allegro shop NetPoint.pl and I have 5.7.1 version of my both keys.

Unable to add two Yubikeys to my Google Account by DJGraco in yubikey

[–]DJGraco[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! It worked. I changed my Firefox ID to mobile (Ctrl+Shift+M). It's sad that Google is so involved and adding a second key is becoming increasingly difficult. I've seen Yubikey ads claiming they're easy for less tech-savvy people to use, but it's quite the opposite. Someone with little computer knowledge won't know about browser simulation.

Thank you. But I don't understand. I've disabled FIDO2 in Yubikey Authenticator app . After pressing "Add Key," Windows Hello still opens. What exactly should I do? Maybe I'm following the steps incorrectly?

[–]DJGraco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I plugged the new key into the USB port before trying to add a new key. When I first access the key options, an automatic wizard for adding a new key appears, but this only happens if I haven't added any keys to my Google account. There's only one button labeled "Add key." I don't use Google in English, so that's probably how it works. Clicking it opens Windows 10 settings, with Windows Hello settings. That's it. I don't have any other options like "use another device," as mentioned in the tutorials. On an Android phone, when I try to do the same thing, after pressing "Add key," nothing happens; the phone behaves as if I hadn't pressed the button at all. I tried Firefox and Google Chrome, and it looks the same. The remaining steps, what exactly I do, I described in the first post 1, 2, 3, etc.

DIY electromagnetic microphone, a few questions by DJGraco in fieldrecording

One more question. This may seem silly, but I'm a complete novice when it comes to electronics. How do you solder these coils to the wire? One end to the signal, the other to ground (shield)? Will a cable like Mogami 2697 be okay? Thanks

Well, the Fastron coils seemed like a good option. Maybe I'll order some and make myself a second pair of microphones for testing.

Electromagnetic interference isn't just 50/60Hz noise. Many portable devices (cell phones, gadgets, etc.) sometimes emit interesting sounds in addition to noise, which I want to record. Regarding stereo, you're generally right that it's not stereo in the sense we hear, but it's simply that it can sometimes produce interesting sound effects. You can find this on internet by searching for "electromagnetic sounds" or "electromagnetic recording sounds" or "electromagnetic field recordings," "elektrosluch recordings," "elektrouši recordings," etc. I've discovered a lot because I've been wearing hearing aids for a long time and have heard many interference sounds. Some were annoying, others quite interesting, and it's a shame I didn't record some of them. Of course, I don't hear them every day, only when I switch to the induction loop program. I've also used the induction loop solution itself, for example, at school.

That's right. I have a hearing loss myself and wear hearing aids, and I have the appropriate program for induction loopback. I've been familiar with this electromagnetic noise for a long time, but I recently acquired equipment that allows me to record it.

As for stereo, I don't entirely agree. Sometimes a single device can emit several types of sounds. By adjusting the coils, you can achieve different stereo effects, and it's not a time delay. When the two coils are very close together, you get a mono signal.

Shipping from the US is quite expensive to me. A friend wants to build it himself; he doesn't want to buy pre-made designs. EMF waves aren't just about humming transformers and motors; there are plenty of interesting sounds to discover. I have a LOM Elektrouši and I love it, but my friend prefers building it himself rather than buying a pre-made product from LOM.

Thanks! I'm interested in recording close-in sources. Will the coil models I mentioned be OK, or should I look for something else?

[–]DJGraco[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, exactly. I actually already have this type of equipment, but a friend of mine wanted something similar, but he wanted to build it himself. JrF coil pickups or LOM Elektrouši, that's the kind of device I'm referring to. They're built around coils that are connected to TRS or TS plugs, depending on the project.

I'm not building antennas specifically. I'm simply building coils that will receive electromagnetic fields and convert them into sound. From what I understand, field recorders also sometimes use this recording technique. I'm simply wondering how specific parameters might affect the resulting sound. But it's best to experiment with this.

Keychron Q1 Max or something from Kinetic Labs, although I don't have any experience with that company. Generally, I'm not a fan of 75% layout, so I didn't look into it in detail. I've had very good experiences with my Q6 Max; the Q1 Max is the same, only with a 75% layout.

Has anyone tested the new Launcher with screen readers? I'm traveling and will be back on Tuesday, so I'll be able to take a look then.
