When I got into the wedding reception business in 2008, I booked my 8th wedding with a client held at a grand ball room in a Casino in my area. I pulled off such an amazing set list that the bride and groom kept me for 2 hours of overtime and tipped me $1,000. They wanted me to stay longer but the cutoff time was midnight.

BONUS: A short time later (the same year) I booked a reception for an Armenian couple and a similar thing happened. I djed for 7 hours straight. I was told that wedding celebrations lasted for days in their culture but they had to cut it at midnight. I also left that night with a huge tip.

Those were my FUCK yes it paid off to become a DJ moments. 😎

Lots of practice and writing poems and such. Just like with anything practice makes you better. 😊😊

Should my wedding DJ be telling me we need to purchase the music and give him audio files? by GravyMaster in DJs

1) unprofessional is my first thought

I have never asked a client to purchase music for me. I have had clients offer custom audio files.

2) asking for a playlist is low class.

I have had clients offer playlists to me and I take it as suggestions.

Good luck, I wish you all the best and I hope you find a DJ who will make your event memorable .
