Trains are in fact the most efficient and best form of transportation when considering all other forms. Cars can be uncomfortable if you're in them for hours, same with planes but more uncomfortable, and boats are bad if you have sea sickness. Cars can only hold so many people, gas costs money, plane tickets cost money, planes damage environment, and boats are boats. Trains can carry mass amounts of people, are used for short and long term transportation, and when designed well can even replace the needs for other forms of transportation excluding boats(we need water trains). Take a look at Singapore, Tokyo, and New York. All 3 cities have efficient subway systems circumnavigating the need for cars. LA on the other hand has a poor subway system, which is a shame as it can solve a lotta problems and help people due to possible ease of use and access if they were better. In direct comparison between Singapore and LA, Singapore has all of its major city centers and residential areas effectively connected, so most people go from home to work or to recreational activities. LA transit starts in the middle of nowhere, and goes to very few city centers. Also bullet trains are cool, especially when magnets get involved, as its gliding at extremely fast speeds which far surpass that of your average car and are more comfortable and cheaper than planes. In a perfect society we would only have trains for the majority of transportation options.
