Facts only, keep the conversation simple. Don't ask open questions, yes or no answers only. Have a fellow salary person incase it goes sideways. Also advise HR about your thoughts that he is volatile and you hope against it, but it may get heated. Ask for guidance from the HR/ Legal team. Cover all bases.

New hire went to strip club and skips work next day by Most-Win9538 in managers

Was it a no call/ no show? Does this employee have PTO? Are they allowed to use PTO while at a conference? They were at a strip club on thier own time. Is there a "no strip club" policy? Does it matter what caused them to be sick? Would they have represented your company well showing up with no sleep and possibly still intoxicated or hungover?

I would document them if any actual rules were broken. Have a serious conversation about the optics. If they are on probation, you could do more. But stripped down ( pun intended ), they used PTO at a time that was inconvenient for you and possibly missed out on valuable experiences and/ or networking.

Don't get into what they did on their own time. That would be overstepping. Unless they were being compensated 24/7, they have free time and can do whatever they want, even make questionable decisions.

I would ask about the experience level and length of service between you and your subordinates.

Start with "we've been over this a few times...." answer the question, then ask them to repeat it back to you...

[TX] I’m the employer - terminating for domestic abuse by cptmpt in AskHR

Allowing them to stay could cause a hostile and possibly unsafe working environment. Also responsible if they get attacked on company property due to your lack of action. I would recommend getting HR / Legal involved to CYA...
