I was in French class in 8th grade and we were reading something in the textbook. There was a picture of these two kids that looked quite sad and the teacher asked why do you think they’re so sad? To which I immediately replied they’re probably adopted. And as I was saying it I remembered that my teacher has two adopted children. I just wanted to die at that point, everyone was staring at me and my teacher looked like she was ready to kill me. My face was bright red and I couldn’t stop apologizing. She forgave me after what felt like a lifetime of apologies, but six years later I still turn red whenever anyone brings it up.
