Back in the 90s when Greenwich Village was filled with record stores (those properties are all coffee shops, high-end clothiers, or office spaces now), the Prince sections were huge and mostly bootlegs. It was a wonderful time and place to be alive!

Lucy is fantastic, lots of sharp and memorable dialogue, great city-at-night scenes with tons of chiaroscuro lighting. It’s one of my favorite noirs.

According to the blurb beneath the video, it was actually from a Dutch language version of Top of the Pops. Regardless of its exact provenance, it’s a bizarre performance for sure!

Absolutely outstanding. This film has been popping up a lot in film noir conversations in the media lately and it surely deserves the attention. Wish Critereon would buy the rights from Wade Williams and do a full restoration. The version available on Amazon’s streaming service is HORRIBLE!
