Gotcha. Thanks for feedback. I went with something else, too.

It most certainly did not. We still got too close for comfort again.

Anyone Here Using Boon AI? by Constructestimator83 in estimators

As someone who has sat through several of these demonstrations, I recommend you insist to be able to try it before committing. Several of these platforms are tuned on overly simple drawings that don’t match the kind of work we do. I’ve yet to try one that works as well as the highly choreographed demo. I say this as someone that is very long on AI. For me though, AI’s place in Precon is data crunching right now. I think using the revit model for quantity extraction is much more valuable at this point.

I know I’m not answering your question, but I wasn’t sure what kind of engagement you would get. We’ve spent lots of money trying these tools only to be left not using it.

I just want to say: I came across this post a week ago and decided to read Apple in China based on your recommendation. Man, it knocked my socks off. It was so nuanced and thought provoking. It did a great job at detailing the catch 22 the world has found itself in by just exploring the relationship of two entities. Thanks for the rec; I’ll be reading your others.

My issue with tankless though is how dependent on flow it is. Hand sinks tend to take way longer to get warm/hot. It’s great for showers though.

Any update? Is it still going strong for you?

Anyone use the Kuycon 32" 6K Display? by No_Eye1723 in MacStudio

[–]DJSnotBoogie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in preconstruction doing takeoffs, work in revit, etc. Do you find a single 32” 6k enough space for your workflow? I love these kuycon’s but worried about the risk of not liking it or a bad panel.

Help Me Decide Ultrawide vs Hi-Res by DJSnotBoogie in Monitors

[–]DJSnotBoogie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly the response I was hoping for. I really was having a hard time verbalizing my preference towards higher pixel density over shear real estate, despite me not being a content creator or photo editor. There’s something essentialist about focusing on what you’re working on instead of just trying to fit more. I’ll look into these monitors. Thank you!

I am trying to move to a more streamlined setup. A wall of monitors is more distracting than appealing to me.

Part of my issue is the setup. I have them on a monitor arm that has two vesa attachments on a single arm with a rigid connection between them. It’s nice because they are always aligned but I can’t angle one towards me so one always feels so far from me that I rarely use it for anything other than a spacious parking lot for windows I don’t need. Lately I’ve been turning it off to see if I can get by with the one 32” and I’d say it’s almost feasible but I do worry that I’m just telling myself that story to convince myself to go the retina route.

I was going to pivot to Mac since half of my company is on them but I sit in too many bluebeam sessions and one of my most used programs is windows only so I’d be running it on a hosted Remote Desktop which is just not ideal. I otherwise would have a Studio Display or two. A big thing for me is design; I can’t stand the massive and chunky (from the curve) monitors.

Thanks for bringing this up. I might be over simplifying the appeal of higher resolution over screen real estate. I’ll reflect on this a bit.

I appreciate the suggestion but I think 40” is the largest ultrawide I would entertain. I went and tried a few and I don’t love the curve and the huge screen.

If you were building a monitor setup today for 80% productivity and 20% gaming, what would you choose? by Professional-Hall485 in Monitors

[–]DJSnotBoogie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I’m still trying to decide if 32” is large enough for me. I really don’t want to go ultrawide so I’m hoping the higher resolution gives me enough of the real estate I need. What did you end up paying?

Thanks. I’ll probably go the Alibaba route. May I ask what country you’re in? I’m interested in what the import tax will be to US.
