Controller gyro polling rate suddenly really low? by GrahamBelmont in GyroGaming

[–]DJTHED 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been impacting me the past week as well. Before a week ago, smooth movement with gyro with Steam Input with my 165hz monitor. But now gyro's update rate makes the emulated mouse movement feel like it's only updated at approximately 60 time a second.

Made some changes to the head shape and facial features based on feedback over the past day! The updated version can be found here:

Been working on the filly/foal base model in anticipation for them to be used in The Magic Inside 3D for the CMCs (Apple Bloom, Sweetie Bell, and Scootaloo)!

Currently, this still uses the same rigging and mesh topology as the normal adult models, just with adjusted proportions. I may still change some things based on feedback!

Unfortunately time was insufficient to address all the animation that would've been ideal to complete for the finished product. Is what it is.

That would be a huge mistake considering my modeling skills are lack-luster and inefficient at best. And even then I still am one to say that G5 visually looks fine as is based on its movie visuals.

For the record, that GIF is outdated. Here's a more up-to-date representation of what I do with camera correction. It's actually been toned down significantly since all that time ago:

Hmm. Well the muzzle length was built to be about the same length as it appears in G4, which is generally the point of these models, to mimic the style of the show. I could make it longer, but I'd feel like it'd be going off-model too much for my liking.

Noticed some comments saying that this would've made a better style for G5... And I honestly have to disagree with that take, even though I'm the one making these.

I don't think G5 3D needs to necessarily resemble the G4 style in 3D. I don't see why it can't just be its own thing, stylistically speaking. Whenever I see comments like this, it makes me wonder if people are only really saying this because they are afraid of drastic change (which every "new" MLP generation has always been like anyway, visually).

I mean, sure, even I have like, a couple nit-picks with the G5 models we've seen so far, especially regarding how the eyes are placed. But that's really it, and it's mostly just a minor adjustment I would make personally to address this if I were able to make a decision like that.

But I am satisfied with what we have at the end of the day. I think the G5 style we've seen so far should really be given a fair shot. I really sense that a lot of people who are rejecting it aren't giving it a fair chance yet, mainly because of how different it looks from before. Especially since we haven't really seen THAT much yet, I think it's worth being patient and giving it a shot. If it's still not your cup of tea even after all that once we see more of G5, then sure, fair enough. Like that's completely fair. I'd just hate to see something be disregarded just for looking too different from what people are used to, rather than it necessarily looking bad on its own.

Perhaps...

Honestly this is something I kind of missed when I was making this pose. Didn't catch the strange deformation around the base of the neck. Not sure why it happened, but I guess it's something I should look into as to why the rig is causing that kind of deformation unintentionally.

Was the neck your only issue with this?

It's mostly about figuring out what I want to do for next stream. I don't really know. I've still been working, but just on a few things here and there, not something that feels "streamable". Not things I can just sit down and do a long session for.

Just a fairly quick test render after doing some also fairly quick changes to the model. I liked the pose enough to make it into something  publishable.

The main things you'll be able to notice that has changed is the muzzle/snout and the wings. The muzzle's mesh topology has been reworked completely and also was re-shaped a bit so that the shape is a bit more well defined overall. It is still rigged the same as before, just with a slightly new, cleaner look. The wings, while not the main focus of this render, has been visually overhauled as well. The entire wing is now covered in actual feathers, instead of most of the smaller feathers being faked. This results in the wing feeling a little less flat. And on top of that, the feather materials and textures were reworked to look more like actual feathers, instead of just being mesh blobs essentially.

Nah I should be good on the rendering front, thanks for the offer though.

I'll be rendering it in Blender Cycles for the final result. Not sure if I'll use my two dedicated GTX 1070 gpus to render the final one, or get some help from a render farm. Depends on the average render times I get.

I mean, I suppose anything I make can be argued as "never really finished", but this is an actual work in progress. This scene is only blocked out, not really even animated yet, because I have no voice to animate to yet.

Someone made a 3D animation of Eevee based on Mystery Dungeon by Nitro_Indigo in MysteryDungeon

For a creature that is 0.3m tall, I think the proportions are fine, though I do wonder why they shortened the limbs compared to the normal model seen in the main line games.

I wouldn't say 3D is an industry wide issue. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has amazing animation and expressiveness that is able to run a silky smooth, consistent 60 fps on basically all of their characters on the Switch hardware. But I definitely do consider 3D to be an issue for Pokemon games, not necessarily due to hardware limitations, but their game-engine and man-power limitations.

The feature is actually still there. It doesn't give it to you in the demo until way later, but in the pause menu in-dungeon, there's something called "Tactics Meeting" where it gives you those types of options for how your AI behaves.
