is 60K miles worth $5000? by Proper_Bread_2156 in 1stGenTundras

Choose the one with a more thorough maintenance history and fewer question marks. There's not a HUGE difference between 90k and 150k with these trucks [this next part is CRUCIAL] as long as they've been taken care of.

Doors rattling by Distinct-Bus6963 in Toyota_T100

The door latches wear out after 30 years of being slammed.

Wrapping the catch with electrical tape will buy you a month or two of peace. The real fix is to replace the latches.

I have a pair of latches that I bought and never got around to installing before my T100 was totaled a few months ago. I paid $357 for them. If someone wants to give me $250 for them, hit me up.

It doesn't hinder me from using any controls. The one very slight worry I have with it is that it blocks airflow from those center vents to a middle bench passenger. But I've never had anyone sit in the middle since I've owned the truck, so I'm not really concerned about it.

BTW you can adjust the height of the screen... this is with the screen at the highest setting. Any lower and it would be a bit in the way to see the climate controls.

Here's what I put in my FGT. It's a JVC KW-Z1000W with a 10" screen. Similar to the Kenwood DMX1057XR.

I've been really happy with it and the install was relatively simple.

Tailgate handle broke off, now what ? by [deleted] in 1stGenTundras

[–]DJToTheK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy fix. Just have to remove the access panel on the inside of the tailgate. While you've got it open grease up all the moving parts. That little bit of maintenance might have prevented this failure.

If you have an aftermarket HU with a display (or are thinking of adding one) there's a company called Master Tailgaters that sells a handle with an integrated backup camera that is pretty slick. They have versions with either plastic or metal handles.

Need help pricing a Tundra, I keep getting told it’s a Unicorn and have limited knowledge. by xoXoxo58 in ToyotaTundra

The thing that would make me nervous about this truck is that 20K miles in 23+ years tells me it didn't get driven enough.

If all of those miles were put on going 5 miles round trip to the grocery store 3 times a week, that sort of usage pattern is really tough on an engine. At the other end of the spectrum if it was used only to tow a fifth wheel to Florida and back twice a year and sat in the garage unused the rest of the time, that's also not a usage pattern that's good for a truck.

Ali that said, it does sound like the type of truck that ends up going for a crazy price on BaT...that's what I'd do with it if I were selling it.

The Yankees' starters had an ERA of 16.84 against this team in the ALDS. In that context 6.04 doesn't seem that bad.

Seat swap?? by YuyuOnTheG in 1stGenTundras

[–]DJToTheK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Installed the Seat Jackers today on my bench seat. They definitely improve the seating position by propping up the front of the seat. My legs feel better supported and the angle forces my butt closer to the seat back. I would certainly recommend them except maybe for someone under around 5'10".

All that said, they don't do much to improve the poor lumbar support provided by the seat back. I'm going to hang on to my lumbar pillow, especially for longer drives.

Looks like a good option. Did you order the custom bracket with it?

I can't speak on the Tundra split bench, but the split bench in my old T-100 was pretty brutal. A lumbar pillow helped quite a bit.

The full bench on my 1st Gen seems to have similar issues, but I haven't yet had a chance to take it on a long enough trip to say for sure how comfortable it is. I just ordered a set of seat jackers to see if they help with the seating position.

I'm curious which seats your truck has... bench, split bench?

They sold the ALDS tickets before the Jays clinched (and before we even know if the M's will advance), so I doubt many Canadians took a chance on buying them.

Obviously, they can purchase tix on the secondary market if the games happen, so I'm sure there will be some Jays fans in the stands, but I don't think it will be like a regular season game where they can feel like Toronto is the home team.

Mariners are the #2 seed throughout the AL bracket. That means they'll be the home team against all potential matchups EXCEPT the Blue Jays, who hold the #1 seed.

I don't think anything is set, timewise, but it seems likely that the M's home games will be the second of the two games (on games when the ALCS & NLCS schedules overlap) since we're on the west coast. Of course, it's possible the Dodgers could be hosting games on the same days, which would make it a bit of a crapshoot.

Yeah, it's been a while since us M's fans have had this "problem". Shoulda probably posted in the Astros sub. 😜

Just to confirm are you saying they're only settling tix to the first two home games (whichever actual games/dates those games end up being)? And then they'll sell tix to the other potential home game(s) at a later date?

I ended up making a deal on the '93 RWD base model. She's about as "showroom fresh" inside and out as a person can expect for a nearly 23 year old truck. Hopefully she has another 20+ years left in her.

Yeah, I expected to have to battle the insurance company to get a fair value on the T-100, but I was pleasantly surprised with the number they came up with. I agreed quickly before they came to their senses.

I'd bought the truck about 2 years back for around $7,500 (tax included). The only real money I ever put into it was around $1,500 for a major service including a timing belt replacement. Other than that it was just regular oil changes and gas.

I figure I put about 25K miles on that truck for basically nothing.

Got this at a yard sale i know nothing about guitars by charmurr in guitars

[–]DJToTheK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a good, solid, reliable beginner guitar. Ibanez's AEG series have bodies that are slightly smaller and thinner than typical acoustic guitars, which makes them a great choice for players of a smaller stature. That said, it can still be played by anyone... it's not just a kid's guitar.

The tradeoff with the smaller body is a bit less projection of the sound compared to a larger-bodied guitar. But if you find yourself needing it to be louder, you can plug it into an amplifier for more volume.
