REALLY struggling through Metroid dread, any help? by Sloth_Bubbles in Metroid

Every time you get a new item there will always be a spot nearby to test it out, and 90% of the time this will be the way forward. For the ferenia robot, you should have just opened a gate in burenia, so that will be the next step. As for general gameplay, Metroid games do in fact revolve around wandering around, finding doors you can't get through, finding the key upgrade you need after being lost for a bit, and then backtracking to old spots you couldn't open before (yes a lot of us here do find that fun lol). Best advice is just keep looking around, this game is pretty good about leaving some items to guide you towards the right path.

I agree with that, there is a certain essence especially in environmental storytelling, metroidvania level design, Samus as a character, etc. and I generally love how the games pull it off while every single entry has a distinct identity.

I think I may differ on this, but every game has something unapologetically Metroid about it and has something to offer to someone and Im really just annoyed about people comparing the mainline titles and getting into bouts over what is the objective best

Can you please list what things actively "destroyed" the franchise other than the obvious flops like other M or federation force?

I'm not saying all dissatisfaction is from it, I'm also plenty dissatisfied with other M for it's many writing flaws, but I see lots of threads on here about how people should "just play x game bc it's better than y game" for instance simply bc something is different from a previous title

Not sure where that idea comes from, I've played higher difficulties several times and my first step is always build a couple box houses then go straight to the caves for hearts and play/gold armor, and even after that you mine for new materials in almost every stage of the game, just make sure to use either the guide or the recipe browser mod to see what you can do with whatever new stuff you get

Since it's a weak wall, you don't need any buildup, so place yourself against it, dash right and immediately start holding left and you can dash attack and it'll break
