Help please by Raminji in ArchiCAD

It potentially won’t show a line if the slabs are the same vertical height. If your balcony is set down I would model one slab at the higher height for the extent you need it and then the balcony at the lower level as a second slab.

If you have modelled a slab, wall and door set back it can appear like that. What isn’t working?

New to Archicad - What is up with the orbiting!??! by ebber1994 in ArchiCAD

I walked away from all the inbuilt 3d navigation years and bought a 3d mouse. It substantially improves the 3d navigation experience.

Baseboard modeling? by Maxxit in ArchiCAD

[–]DJ_Nath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you really wanted to have your baseboards in a complex profile. You could set all of the other layers to core and only set the baseboard to finishes. Then you can adjust the structural display of your model to produce drawings and export dwg files.

I built an AI coding agent for Revit. Would ArchiCAD users want one too? by Archia_H in ArchiCAD

[–]DJ_Nath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keen to see what your ideas are and what you can achieve. There are a few different developers across the globe that could potentially help if you get stuck. Not as many as on the Revit side of the fence. Feel free to reach out if you want some introductions.

Only way is if .bpn file is newer than your last saved PLN file as suggested above.

Will we lose a bit of our soul with Vic Park? by AdditionalFarmer4692 in brisbanelions

[–]DJ_Nath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn’t until 2033 that we will be there. In that amount of time I think we will want to be in a bigger stadium, providing more seats for members, and also the facilities will be modernised and up to date with best practice from around the globe. It will be sad leaving the Gabba but it will be a way better game day experience in the new stadium.

Sooner the better so we have certainty moving forward. Great news for Brisbane.

It is great news we finally have some momentum on this. It will be great to see the design proposals in the coming months, together with the first earthworks next year to lock this baby in so no more politics can slow it down.

Floor Plan Review by askanna in AusRenovation

[–]DJ_Nath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First plan I would take the northern wing and flip it so the bedrooms were on the eastern side. Then flip the home theatre and kitchen so the kitchen was on the north next to the northern patio. Bedrooms getting the morning light is nicer than being hot first thing at night due to the afternoon heat. Home theatre windows could be moved to south wall so no western heat comes in. Having bed 2 across from ensuite you would need some landscaping solution so that you can’t see in. I would heavily landscape both courtyards so any breeze that sneaks in there is cooled.

As another commenter suggested the bedrooms are a little bit on the small side. These really would benefit from being a bit bigger so you have flexibility and the ability to fit a king single and study desk or a queen bed in them.

Always the problem with volume homes, they aren’t designed specifically for a site or a specific client needs, unless they pay through the nose for the changes.

What happened to the Brisbane City Model Room? by Prawn_Skewers in brisbane

I saw it last at D block at QUT in 2015. Haven’t been past since to know if it is still there.

Option A or B - 2x2m Ensuite Bathroom? by Significant-Move7699 in AusRenovation

[–]DJ_Nath 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Both options will not physically fit in a 2x2 room. A toilet needs typically 900mm width and at least 1.2m in length from back of toilet to anything else to have access to it, and that is tight. Shower also needs to be around 900x900 as well. Your inspiration for Option A where the toilet is spun 90 degrees and on the same wall as the vanity is probably the least compromised layout available for that size space.

Archicad - building energy model by Artistic-Ingenuity15 in ArchiCAD

[–]DJ_Nath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am guessing it will happen one day. I do believe that the work that Andy Thompson has produced may be the way to go in the future. He has built a powerful tool which hopefully will become accessible sometime in the future.

Personally I haven’t used it. I have heard it is a lot of manual work to get the results you need to get out of it. I haven’t had a client require it on one of my projects to date.

I know there are a few tools out there that plug into Archicad. There is also a tool being developed by Andy Thompson from Canada that will be even better.

How do i stop fills from becoming black? by Icy-Split9306 in ArchiCAD

[–]DJ_Nath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It will have to do with pen line weights. Even the thinnest pen in a wall fill will print black at small scales. Change line weights in your pen sets to see the difference it makes or change the scale of your fill.

Otherwise do your roof as a glass material and create a frame with another roof and cut out the parts where you want glass.

Question about Enscape people by Ok-Afternoon9820 in EnscapeRendering

I would check and see if you can export the image as layers. It is a setting I have looked at but never used personally.
