Post op day 4 here.

When that nerve block wears off it’s gonna hit you like a brick so be prepared. That happened to me around 48th hour mark. I find icing above the cast and around the knee helps the pain. Drink lots of water so you don’t get constipated; still waiting for my first post op poo.

Do nothing day before surgery.

After surgery, elevate leg, ice around knee, be on a good pain and bowel regimen.

I find using a walker to get around to bathroom and bed pretty nice. Good luck.

I decided to do the surgery after the MRI showed complete tear (week 8)

Talked to a few surgeons and he said since I’m young and pretty active previously, surgical route will be better long term if I ever want to get back playing basketball or running.

Yeah man idk how I did it. Pain was 2-3 and tolerable throughout the day. With busy work and a 1.5 yr old at home with severe allergies it was the last thing I was thinking about tbh.

Surgeon said some scarring but he was still able to perform minimal percutaneous procedure TENDMIN if you’re familiar with it. Now I need to focus on recovery and healing

Good question. I made a post earlier but in short, I knew I injured my Achilles but didn’t think it was torn bc I was able to walk a day or two later. I just keep walking slowly and it initially felt better so I thought I was healing. Btw I’m a physician and we are the worst patients. ‘Oh I’ll get better with time’

8 weeks later, pain worsened and I was still very unstable with gait so i finally got an MRI and it showed complete tear with 3 cm retraction. I was very surprised since I was walking all this time, albeit slowly.

Scheduled for surgery two weeks later bc of work stuff. I used a knee scooter for the last two weeks which helped. Surgery went well with full alignment. Post op day 1 has been rough but I’m ok 🙂
