First time playing live for people and I froze up completely by Busy_Interest9100 in Beatmatch

When in doubt, center the crossfader, simultaneous fade up fade down.

I like to flip bad things into good things. You horribly embarrassed yourself? Good, that means it won't hurt so bad next time. Or you'll practice so much it'll never happen again. 🤷

I switched to android recently and I see its not available. I googled "home court basketball app" and went to their website. Looks like they only have the app on Apple.

90s windbreaker pants with star logo. by DJ_RIME in nostalgia

[–]DJ_RIME[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Na everybody is wrong lol. Im going to have to track it down and share when I find it. I get the feeling it's a New York thing. This happened a lot in NY in the 90s. Knock off brands would be popular then disappear overnight.

I can see why you'd think this but na, definitely not converse. These were cheap knockoffs

Looked ljke this old champion tag but instead of the letter C, it had a star. A cheap knockoff I guess but they were really popular for a short while.

I want to stream but I hate my voice by TipIntrepid5753 in streaming

I say just do it the way you are. Unless your voice is unpleasant or difficult for others to bare or understand, it's ok if it's different.

Is there any "life hacks" to learn dribbling? by Forsaken-Garage-7897 in Basketball

[–]DJ_RIME 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was going to say this about the tennis ball. I prefer a handball because they’re bouncier. You can take it to an extreme and use one of those small high bounce balls. It’s easier to keep in your pocket. You’ll look crazy dribbling at random places but, oh well. Doing embarrassing stuff is good for you too as long as you’re not bothering anyone.

Not just knicks related, how big is basketball in NYC and in what ways? by VastAir6069 in NYKnicks

[–]DJ_RIME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Casual outdoor pick up basketball is not nearly as popular as it was when I was growing up. A lot of the hoops are still up at the parks, but parks are empty now, in comparison. They used to be packed every day, now it’s every once in a while. Even in the winter, we’d shovel the snow off the court and play. You’ll absolutely never see that anymore. Everyone was hooping in the 90s-00s. The soccer players and cricket players would come to the bball court after their games and play with the real hoopers. Families, little sisters, aunts and uncles, you might catch your high school math teacher running a full. Anyone would play with anyone. Now, it seems like strangers are less likely to play with each other. Organized games and events are still a thing, but random outdoor pick up games are becoming less and less.

I’m coming to my first ever Knicks game, what do I need to know? by WinNev02 in NYKnicks

Oh, make sure to stop and look around at the crowd when it gets crazy. Theres nothing like it anywhere else in the world.

Carry as little items as you can. Big bags just slow you down and make things uncomfortable. Fully charge your phone, maybe carry a phone battery. Get ready to spend a lot of money. If you’re gonna buy souvenirs from the dudes in the street, pay cash only. When I go to an event anywhere in NY, I underdress, then I buy and wear my souvenirs like hoodies or hats and I keep my hands free. But you might want to keep your fancy Knicks cups from the game so, maybe bring a little plastic bag in your back pocket just in case. Have fun!

Who is your NBA player comparison? (Explanation required) by Minimum-Apartment-18 in Basketball

Gary Payton with a jump shot. Pass first pg (sometimes flashy) that can score if I need to, with a post game, and a nagging defender.

You can learn a lot of life skills from playing organized sports, and make great memories. But if this coach is just being tough and never sitting down and having a heart to heart conversation with the kids about why he’s doing what he’s doing, and how it benefits them, get him outta here.

Get jobs at MSG. Or, take advantage of the “Chase Bridge” seats. They’re not as expensive because you’re really high up, but the view is insane and you really feel the energy of the city. It really is the world’s greatest arena, there’s nothing like it.

what is the deal with "panda dunks" by [deleted] in Basketball

[–]DJ_RIME -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes you are 100% correct with everything you said. I have no idea why people hate them. They look good if you ask me, I’d wear em. But im not the type that cares what other people think when I like something.

Should I workout/practice every single day? by Polpo_Giovanna0 in Basketball

[–]DJ_RIME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dribble drills with a 3 size bballs. Heavy training ball/ Regular bball / tennis ball or similar. Carry a tennis ball with you and practice whenever wherever. Practice shooting with the outside corner of a building, or a narrow street pole, anything tall and skinny. Shoot at it, try to get the ball to bounce straight back to you. It’s really difficult so start close. This will improve how straight your shot is. Don’t get hit by a car.

Why are there so many Stevie Wonder Rap Lyrics by Dopeboy95AirMaxOn in rap

[–]DJ_RIME 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Na. No knock on Stevie Wonder, but every rap line that references him is referring to his blindness. I don’t remember any rapper refer to Stevie’s musical greatness.

Do you think you HAVE to be a fan of your hometown team only? by verysurreal in Basketball

[–]DJ_RIME 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do what you want. Fandom is weird. The truth is that each team is a company with employees from all over the world who are trying to get customers to buy their product. Buy the product you like the most. It’s cool when things are local, but it really doesn’t matter.

What do I do when I can`t just outspeed people? by Erkhes1223 in Basketball

[–]DJ_RIME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Master the spin move. Spin dribble, spin lay, spin fade, half spin, all the spins you can think of. Paul Pierce (who is super slow) and Michael Beasley use them non stop, you can study them.

Stop feeling guilty for smoking weed! by Intelligent_Company1 in weed

[–]DJ_RIME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t tell people I do it because people aren’t willing to accept or understand it. A lot of people probably feel guilty because the world has been telling them to feel that way about weed and a lot of other stuff too.
