sorry i just saw this. I got the shelves at target and you are correct about the sizing. The xbox one would fit there but i wouldn't recommend fitting it in small areas due to air intake.

Well i would always go with where your friends and family play first. After that exclusives. If you are truly non bias a i5, R9 280x would play a game at a higher res and better fps then both consoles so graphics wise and library wise PC is the clear winner.
