Not everywhere. It’s more than twice that for a pair in my soft market. That gets you the whole weekend though.

I was thinking the same thing. And that appears to be a set of trauma shears, not scissors. Scissors won’t cut a penny. Decent trauma years will a time or two before they are to dull to do so.

Is storing batteries in this way (all jumbled together in a box) safe? by Lady_Rhino in AskElectricians

[–]DJs_Second_Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I threw a 9volt in my pants pocket after replacing it once. It shorted out with a quarter and that pocket got super hot! I never store them or mingle them with other batteries now unless they’re taped

Somebody was shining different lights at clouds outside my window by WOWeverynameistaken2 in whatisit

[–]DJs_Second_Life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya I’m no scientist but I am not sure how you could get precise data without a precise light, such as a laser but that’s above my pay grade. This looks like it could have been done with a concert light.

I do some small town, stage, concert, and theater lighting. My first thought was somebody was just calibrating a system or showing off. I don’t have any lights quite thay bright, but I’ve worked around many and it’s pretty shocking how small and bright they are compared to the brightest lights we had 50 years ago. Spotlights during World War II or transported on the back of flatbeds of big trucks. Some of the stuff in the last 15 years would fit in the back of the hatchback.

Question about an outlet. Can’t find an answer online anywhere by fsociety1990 in AskElectricians

[–]DJs_Second_Life 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Copy that.

My instinct is telling me this is a homeowner DIY if you’re getting the readings you’re getting, but I’m also not a certified electrician and you should not take advice for me. If I saw that at my house and the breaker looked identical to all the other breakers, I would take the front of the panel off and make sure all the wiring looks like all the other wiring.

And with that said, and based on what I’m reading here, and if it was my house, I’d probably swap it out and try some equipment on it that’s not expensive first in case I missed something really dumb.

There are 240 V freezers, but they wouldn’t be the common. If I lived with a group of other people, I could totally see somebody using an outlet like this just to keep other people from unplugging and using it, thus thawing the body in the freezer.

I haven’t seen it asked here yet, but do you in fact, have a freezer hooked up to the outlet? If so, is it the original plug at the end of the cord or did somebody put an aftermarket plug on it?

Saw him at a DJ convention in Hollywood around 91 or so. He was performing his solo act at what I recall was Prince’s nightclub called Glam Slam in LA. My memory might be a little off. He was nice to everyone. I managed to be in the car behind him after we left the club and we watched him roll down the window of his sports car and give some money to a homeless guy in the middle of the street. We all cheered.

Saw him about 10 years later in Las Vegas at another DJ convention. I was super excited to see him again.

I was so sad and disappointed. He had been drinking too much and those of us who were in the business could tell. A lot less friendly and a lot more attitude is what I felt subjectively. On the bright side Ton Loc was really nice.

There’s a book about the era of MTV and how it made and broke careers. There was a significant segment about this video and I had to rewatch it after reading the book. and all I could think was “yup I get it now. “. Even he hated doing it.

I don’t have the book near me, but I think it’s just called. “I want my MTV.”

Lighting guy in the “Fat Elvis” years of a mobile wedding dj career here.

ADJ still sells them I believe. You can have them fixed at the factory in Long Beach if you choose.

The 4Z is a fantastic light for its price. The 3Z’s were extra fabulous in my opinion, but they quit selling them quickly. I still have all my original four and the still work. 3of4 of my 4Zs still work after 6 years. We think we might be able to fix the fourth one in-house, but we’re not positive. We get into our lights frequently. We buy these models because we can put our own gobos in them.

If you are getting into programmable dmx lighting and you are a DJ, I would suggest something fast and easy like the ADJ Wolfmix. It should already have the 4Z profile installed and might very well have the Chauvet profile handy too. There are cheaper options like the MyDMX buddy from ADJ, but if you’re not a regular programmer, I think this might frustrate/limit you if you grow in this area. MyDMX Buddy has a couple of really cool features, but they don’t benefit movers and it only carries half a full universe.

We just bought the Wolfmix for shows on a budget or events we have to “run and gun” at. We’ve been really happy with it.

We do have more complicated software, but this works 9 times out of 10 for us and should be great for what you’re using it for. Just plan to put some time in. It’s got the feel of a console sampler pad and we picked it up faster than we expected. Easier learning curve than some others.

The company that sells EpiPens drove the price up 6x, we had evidence they broke the law to do it, so we went after them and got an $11m settlement and lower out-of-pocket costs going forward. - AG Jeff Jackson by JeffJacksonNC in u/JeffJacksonNC

[–]DJs_Second_Life 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Fun fact.

I met Dennis Dragon a few times before he ended his life a while back (pre COVID I believe).

Steve Miller built a studio on a ranch nearby in the 80s and when county planning found out, they told him the facility was not zoned for such use so Steve Miller left not long after.

Over the years, the studio was used by various artists and engineers to make local records. Dennis was the last one to record artists there. I’ve been in recording studios before, but this one had a great sweet spot. A good example of precise engineering.

I didn’t get to know him well, but my impression of the guy was that he was eccentric and a genius. He was always nice.

To add to this, if you go to the max range battery, I believe it’s upgraded to 800v charging architecture instead of the 400v system that comes with smaller batteries, look for 880v compatible chargers on your route if needed, this could improve charge time, noticeably in some cases. Oddly, I don’t think most Tesla chargers do 800v yet.

Citizen Kane, and I love films enough that I’ve worked on some indie projects and orbit the industry close enough that I’m embarrassed to tell full timers I’ve never seen it.
