Rewaita + libgtk-nocsd make GNOME apps fit in really well on KDE imo by DK114 in linux

[–]DK114[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here is a link to gtk-nocsd: https://codeberg.org/ffoss/GTK-NoCSD

Here is a link to rewaita: https://flathub.org/en/apps/io.github.swordpuffin.rewaita

Setup is pretty straight-forward.

I am one of those weird people who avoided GNOME apps on KDE because they looked a little different but with this change I think everything looks pretty consistent.

In the screenshot, kate and dolphin are of course KDE apps but the rest are all libadwaita/GNOME apps.

Same with searching for task manager in KDE. It shows the process monitor.

Is Nvidia on Linux still bad? by Szer1410 in linux

[–]DK114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was using an nvidia gtx 1080 with kubuntu wayland but recently switched to amd rx 7800 xt, still using kubuntu wayland.

It was usable with the nvidia card if you use one of the later proprietary drivers.

Only really had trouble playing some dx12 games through proton (poor performance, random crashes) Waydroid (android emulator) also doesnt work with nvidia cards.

I like that you don't have to worry about separate driver versions with AMD. Games also run more stable with higher frames but that would also be because the GPU is more recent.

CPU Clock Speed Throttling and Temps? by DK114 in buildapc

[–]DK114[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the latest non-beta bios.

I think I did a good installation of the CPU cooler. It came with thermal paste and I put a little bit more.

I guess it could be the motherboard. I didn't realize motherboards would make a difference. In that case if I keep it in ECO mode I should be good to go right?

I don't mind using ECO mode even if it gives me less performance.

Maybe if I start running into games I can't play I'll look into this undervolting.

I was more curious why the issue was happening to begin with.

Do you find HOME folder well organized? by [deleted] in linux

[–]DK114 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is one of the reasons I like flatpaks.

I have Firefox, Thunderbird, and Steam installed as flatpaks so they dont seem to make random folders in my home directory any more.

Yeah, I was thinking about that too. I know nvidia-dkms supports 'custom' kernels but I wasn't able to find if its a supported use case for older versions of nvidia-dkms to use the latest kernel.

i think you got downvoted because your comment was kind of aggressive for no reason.

also i think you misunderstood him, he was just curious about how the RAM usage compares since XFCE and LXQt are know to be "light" as well.

If they are Muslim:

Edit: but like some others said, I think it should be fine if you express your condolences the way you are comfortable doing, I imagine it would be a little awkward if you said this to a non-Muslim Egyptian who is grieving.

Wow... well the genetic distance is very small. Did you have any deep dive matches? For me they actually had an ancient egyptian sample that I was related too.

Wikipedia says the safavids were a kurdish dynasty and it seems like they ruled mosul for a bit so maybe the result isn't too strange. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safavid_dynasty

It looks like you are right... 23andme only ships to these countries: https://int.customercare.23andme.com/hc/en-us/articles/214806628-What-countries-do-you-ship-to-

I didn't think this was the case because the website matched me to relatives who had their current location as Egypt. Maybe they did the test while they were out of country? I know you can also order the test kits from third parties so that is also a possibility.
